I thought they were adding the V8 engine in 2002. It's supposed to be like 358HP rear wheel drive. Maybe that's 2003.

Another Acura dissapointment. I guess in along the same lines as the 2001 Acura TL.

Sorry, didn't mean it in that way. Just saying that there was so much hype in the 2001 TL with the 6 disk changer and memory seats that didnt come through. Thats all.

PhiTL, it's all good bro.

I want to write a letter to Acura about this anyway how I feel cheated with the lack fo new features in my TL compared to the new ones and the fact that they could have built these into the car easily!!!

It will be hard for me to buy another Acura in 5 years because of this experience.

Its okay the RL will get its redesign in 2003. I thought that the RL was skiped one model year anyway. With this said the TL models should be do for redesign in 2004.
The way I figure is that the 99 TL was all new & 2000 had more than a few upgrades. The 2001 is the same & 2002 new face & many upgades. The 2002 also added a perfomance version. I can only see the TL being sold in its present form for 2003. I think the new RL will have the filter down effect on the TL. This is that the TL will get some of the goodies in 2004.

Is it me or does it seem that Acura is usually behind in making and introducing its redesign? It seems like acura waits for other manufactures to make its move before making theirs. Like how the RL is late introducing their redesigned flagship after Lexus and Infinity has already released theirs.

I got that crap in the e-mail too. I was reading about its whopping 225 hp and I was thinking there was maybe an RL type S or something that had the new V8. Oh well, in the end when the new Q45 has better sales then maybe Acura will wake up.

Youll be surprised by how many fine ass 30-40 yr. old women are driving those things... I would rock a 40yr old twizot in a hearbeat, if she was bangin, GOD, I love older women!!! The RL is the classic of all the acuras, respect it... RL most likely stands for Relaxed Luxury, they need a whole new car for the GS430's and Q45's ...

u know what really struck me as strange in that though... that it has 225hp, but it has 231lbs of torque... if they can do it with the RL, why not the TL? that makes no sense.

The RL's engine has 300cc more displacement than the TL's. It is much easier to generate lots of horsepowers (higher rpm), but it is very difficult to generate lots of torque, with a smaller displacement engine without going to force induction.

Look at the Type-R and the S2000. Even though their small engines turn out tons of horsepowers, the peak torque numbers only improve slightly over the low tech 1.8L and 2.0L engine in Accords and Preludes made four/five years ago.

Thumbs up

Well at least this appears to be a good sign. The "sweetened up RL" was probably made by Honda so that they could get rid of all those current RL shells before rolling out the all new RL.
