i brought my caR IN Today because the AC vent makes a clunking noise if i switch the vent modes or if i turn off the ac. its pretty loud. the guy said if there is a object in ur dash then its 500 bucks to fix it., if not, then its free. they wont do the job under warrenty, they wont even remove the dash. they said its a chance i gotta take. i feel ripped off.

 

I think that they're just being upfront with you. They're letting you know that if you want to proceed you're taking a chance that it could turn out to be something that someone (friend, wife, child?) dropped in one of the vents and it would fall back on you for the expense.

Personally, I think that a top notch dealer would just write it up under warranty regardless. Acura would have no idea if they just wrote it up as a loose piece of plastic in the system. They should take care of you, but at least they're being upfront with you rather than sticking you with a huge bill.

yes but being upfront? so why do they fix the coin holder if there is a coin behind it. its just not being curious. my warrenty is ending very soon. well its wrong they choose what they want to be curious about.
i will try another dealer. then try the DIY

Take it to another dealer and tell them that your dash rattles... They will have to take it apart for that and fix your ac problem at the same time.....

 

There's gonna be two different amounts the dealer will get paid if it's done under warranty or not. If it's a warranty claim then the dealer won't get as much from Acura than if they got paid by you and not under warranty.

 

Call Park Ave Acura (if they're not too far away) and have them look at it. They will do right by you either way.
