Revving

Is it normal when I rev in neutral to 6k-8k rpm (redline) and it drops back to 5k rpm.

yes its a rev limiter, if it kept redlining the engine will blow! kaboom!

I can't rev higher than 5k in neutral. how can yours rev to 8k??

you sure youre not thinking of Park? im not positive but i believe mine will rev to redline in neutral.

i know my accord will for sure

if we had a mechanical interaction betwewen the shift lever and the trans- maybe
BUT WE DONT
Its all electronic- when you move the shifter it clicks a small selenoid to talk to the computer and request a shift

yes the rev limiter is set lower in park and N for a safety reason-- to the engine!
Stop doing that!
