Reving in idle
I was out of town and my TL was not started for about 10 days. When I got back and started it up, it drove fine, until I stopped and put it in park - the engine started to rev up and down by itself b/w 1K and 2.5K. When I put it in drive again, its idle is now at 1.5K. Anyone run into this problem?
BTW - I called an Acura dealer - all he could say was "I should have started it every couple of day"...which is not acceptable as far as I'm concerned.
2/18 - UPDATE
Dealer says it needs a ......you guessed it...
...a whole new freaking transmission...(its under warranty)
Problem is related to the PCM and everything needs to be replaced.
This SUCKS for a car with less then 40k miles on it.

I believe this is a known issue with acura's. It is something with the PCM (Powertrain control module), and there is in fact a TSB in regards to this.
here's the link to the problem I think you may have. I believe that I have a similar problem to this one.

replace the @ with an "a" and the 0 with an "o"
hope this helps.
take care.

Idle Air Control Valve
I had a problem similar to yours - I came back from a 6 month deployment and had to get a new battery - the car idle was going up and down and the car would shake if the RPM's got low - took it to a dealer and they told me there is a recall for that problem - got it fixed at no charge - the problem is the idle air control valve and once they replaced it the problem went away - hope this helps
Idle Air Control valve
I had the same thing happen to me: After sitting for about 6 days, I drove my 2001 CL-S and after a little while the idle would surge between about 500 and 2000 RPMs. I could feel it surging while driving it, and sitting in neutral it was pretty upsetting. So I drove to the dealer, but by the time I got there it had cleared itself, and has never done it again (although it's never sat that long, either). The service writer said it may be the idle control valve, as he's seen that problem before, but wouldn't do anything for me unless they could duplicate the problem.... He said nothing about any recall! And now it's out of warranty, and I'm having a somewhat rough idle at start up. So I'm thinking of trying to clean the IAC valve per some other suggestions in this forum. Would anyone like to give us a procedure?
And today I had to replace my battery (got a cheap Exide 720 for $45 at Kragen), and I didn't have to relearn the idle...(?)
