The NAVI sends a 12v signal when it wants to override the front speakers. What you need is something that will switch between the two signals when the 12v is detected on the NAVI side. I only know of one source switcher that will do this (but there are probably others that will do it)...

P.I.E. MPSS-4-

In addition, you'd also need an amp since the MPSS-4 works off of pre-amp inputs.

I basically figured if I wanted to change out the bose system I'd need to replace everything... That means the head unit, all the speakers, the subwoofer, and I'd need the MPSS-4 and a new amp. Probably 2 since I'd need one amp to drive the 4 speakers, and another amp to drive a new sub.

There are other ways to do it cheaper, but you'll start to lose overall sound quality by doing it.

Alpine does make a navigation "speaker" that you can hookup to our navi systems to allow the sound to come from that ... but imho thats kindof a crappy solution. I don't know what model the speaker is off the top of my head, but if you do a search you should be able to find it.

I took out everything and replaced it all. I lost the NAVI voice, but I thought it was annoying anyway, but everything else is great.

The only thing the NAVI does thats related to your sound system is the directional voice and the "dings" to tell you its about to talk... What else does it do?

And yeah you can start replacing stuff w/o any worries if you dont care about the NAVI voice. The MPS-4 is only necessary if you want to have the NAVI take over the front speakers when its talking.
