Question Replacement battery for Acura TL

Can a battery from Costco, or Sam's club work for the 2000 Acura TL. Also, does the keyless entry need to be reset after install. Or should this be purchased through an acura dealer.

Thanks.

Yes. Any battery of a similar size and CCA will work. Keyless entry should be fine. You will need your radio code after power is reconnected. Costco started carrying the Optima battery (sealed) but I'm not sure if there's a listing for the Acura.

Don't go to the dealer for a battery. Costcos etc are fine. They usually have guides to tell you what you need. Installation is very simple. Just make sure you have your radio code after install.

Apart from the resetting the radio and/or the keyless entry the main thing your looking for is the correct group number of battery fro the car. These are usually broken down into about 5 to 7 groups for passenger cars.

For instance: I think the number for my Talon is a Group 27.

Buy at Costco. The costco battery seems to be better, they have longer life rating and higher CCA.

Acura charges about $120 for a battery, not including installation. Pick one up from costco for $60

our battery is a group 24, the most common for passenger cars. Make sure you find your radio code before you take your batter out or you will be driving with no tunes

If you take it out and install the new one really fast(like less than 5 minutes you will not need to punch in the radio code).
The code should be on the left side of your glovebox if your sitting in you drivers seat and open the glovebox you should be able so see it there. Some dealers put it in different spots.

BEFORE YOU BUY ONE!

How old is your battery? If it's less than a few years old, I think 3, the dealership will prorate you another one if you're still under warranty. I got one for 1/3 price because mine only lasted a year. I had just gotten the car used and I suspected the slow starts were the ignition switch that was being recalled, so I took the car to a dealer and found out the battery was about to die. They gave me a new one for about 45-50 bucks.

I had to replace my 99 TL batteries about 6 months ago. I compared prices from BJ wholesales, sams clubs, discount auto part, and my local acura dealer. To my surprise the acura dealer price was within +/- 2 dollars from all the other stores. AcuraTLFan.....120 dollars for a new battery???? I think that dealer was trying to take you for a ride if that price didn't include installtion. Oh and you have to redo your homelink system when you reinstall a new battery.

Get the battery from Costco. Trust me, I am a manager at one and we just had to do a free replacement because this old guy bought one like a year and 350 days prior, and atleast at that time there was a twenty-four month warranty. Plus if it goes even after that, we have to pro-rate it up to a certain year.

I love Costco. They make it too easy to return stuff. It probably works out in the long run because I buy whatever I can from there - Batteries included. Bought an Optima Red Top for my 300ZX there about 6 months ago.

There should be a little battery/tire selection computer in the automotive section. Juts punch in the year, make & model.
Takes less than 3 minutes and it'll tell you what battery to pick.
