replace or repaint??
Well i have recently decided that i would save up some money to redo my front bumper because it has alot of rock nicks and was not sure whether i would need to get a a new bumper or just have the body shop fix them. Also i was wondering how much a good body shop would paint the front bumper... maybe the rear bumper as well..

You should be fine with a sand down and re-paint. The rock chips usually don't do much, if any, damage to the actual bumper itself. If you've got gouges deep in the bumper you need to stop driving behind gravel trucks.

Is the bumper cut, cracked, gouged, or creased anywhere? If yes, then I would replace the bumper with an OEM one. The body shop will charge you time to repair the damage and if there is a significant amout it will cost more than a new bumper, not to mention the new bumper would look much better.
If you just have normal rock chips then keep the bumper you have.

I'd have it re-painted then. If the scrapes are under the bumper where nobody can see, I'd just have it re-sprayed to get rid of the black marks with no repair. Nobody see's it anyway.

okkk i think i am just going to have them repaint it.. I really do not want to save up the extra money to buy a whole new bumper... unless i jus found on off of a totaled tl... but anyways.. How hard is it to make the paint match wdp??

WDP is a bitch to match. Be sure to bring it to a highly recomended shop and ASK them about mathching it before you give them the business. Ask them if they will REDO it if you aren't satisfied with the matching.

yea I'm going to take it to this really really good auto body shop here in Dallas. Hopefully they do a really good job.. I heard it looks yellow sometimes.. i thinks that what the complaint was.. but what do you think it will run me?

For the front bumper with minimal bodywork they shouldn't charge you more than $350. WDP is a hard color to match, and they will need to sand, and possibly use some filler on the nicks so it seems like a fair price.

Is it really $350 for a front bumper repaint? Mine is chewed up bad! My bumper was literally covered with bugs after a drive through the country at night during the summer, and for some reason, the bug/tar remover I used caused hundreds of little specks of paint to come off, like where the bugs were. I've used bug/tar remover many times before with no issues.
I also had a paint bubble on the rear bumber finally break, so there is a small mark there that I wanted repainted as well.
My guess is that perhaps the bumpers were repainted before I bought it (certified/used) and the paint job was of inferior quality, which resulted in the paint coming off so easily?
