Replace my 99 TL BOSE

Well I think I should ask.

Since my success w/ my 99 TL Bose HU,, it does not play CD-r's from crap.

So I am considering replaced the HU w/ maybe a Clarion deck.

I was at FRYs Electronics today and talked to a sales rep. He told me "IF" I have the BOSE in the TL that the whole system needs to be repalced and also re-wired.

Basically told me I have to replace the HU, Speakers and rewire everthing!!! Is this true? Do I really have to go to that EXTREME??? I mean I can't use my original speaker wires that the bose were hooked up to??

this topic has been discussed before..

but anyways, if you just replace the HU, you'll lose the use of your stock sub..the speakers will work fine.

do not be fooled by sale rep...
all they want is to make you to spend more money...
i just finished installation on 2002 tl-s
i replaced bose deck with panasonic dvd player...
just get a wire hardness then match the color that is it...
only thing i need to figure out to finish this car is...
i need to find out wire code for sub woofer on the back...

yeah man thas a load of crap, just replace the headunit, u'll prolly lose the sub, but everything else will work fine. If you plan on building a system, the stock sub wiould be useless anyways. Go for it bro!

Does your TL have NAVI? If not, you can go to Crutchfield, type in your year and buy everything you will need, including the wiring harness, trim plates, etc., you will need.

Nope no navi or CD changer.

How about this AMP by Bose, is it a seperate amp or is the amp in internal to the BOSE HU?

I just want to remove it if there is a Bose amp. Thanks

i believe its under the HU, but removing the amp will cause significant loss of sound from the stock speakers. Check out the stickies in the Audio/Video forum. they'll help a lot.

The AMP for the SUB is behind the rear passenger side seat. You will have to remove the seats in order to get to it. It's about the size of a mens wallet.

Dr.Cookie did, and have a great write up... do a search on his name. I believe the sub he use, was the kicker RMB8, or something like that.
