Replace it or lube it? [ball joint question]

I have read that lubrication makes the squeaking from the ball joint go away, at least temporarily. My question is, if it is squeaking, does that mean it definitely needs to be replaced, or can it be remedied with the lubrication?

Right now it's squeaking and of course, if I don't need a new ball joint, why get it...

You actually need to inspect it. If it is not worn out or damaged, then you just need to lupe it.

They only replace it if the knuckle breaks....or at least thats what acura told me. They just lubricate it and it goes away.
