id like to remove my stock mufflers to sand them and paint them so they look clean and nice..

my question is (should say are): is it hard to remove them? are they welded or bolted? will they fit perfectly when i put them back on?!?!

oh and another question.. how much do u guys think it should be to remove the larger exhaust resonator??

Removing the mufflers and being able to put them on--extremly easy. 2 bolts per muffler. it cost me 25 dollars to have a shop bend me the pipe to remove the resonators(both of them) and weld it on!

 

Jesus...just remove 2 bolts from each muffler, making it 4 bolts to remove....VERY EASY. After you're done, put them back on. The gaskets are usually stuck to the y-pipe...so as long as you don't move the gaskets around i think you'll be just fine.

Is the paint peeling? Acura has a TSB on peeling paint on the mufflers and they will repaint it for you.

 

Yeah the paint is peeling like crazy, and i knew there was a bulletin but i thought it was just if u were still under warraty, and mine is over... well ill go to acura and ask them, i have to go there anyway for something else...

Well, try to ask them...i think they will be nice enough to do it for you even though ur warrenty is over. It's not like the problem just occurs suddenly. Tell them you had it for awhile but you didn't konw becuase how often do you bend down to look if your mufflers are peeling?

Removing resonator will give you a deeper exhaust tone. Some people say it will give you a "droneing" sound.
