Removing Powder coating off shift plate

I have a 99 TL and I've seen several postings about getting the chrome look on you shift plate, so I went out last night and bought a liquid paint stripper but im afraid that when I apply it that it will remove more than just the coating and it will remove the plastic chrome too or even melt it. Do you think I will be ok using a paint stripper?

I dont know about paint stripper, but me and a friend left his in paint thinner, then we let it sit in some ethanol. It came off so fast. Then we polished the chrome.
