red/white tail light problem
red/white tail light problem
I bought a pair of aftermarket tails from elusivemotorsports, and the left hadn side fits perfect, but the right hand side left a gap underneath. so i tried fixing it up, and finally got the gap to be minimized, but then the top doesnt flush nicely...and yesterday it was raiing, and im pretty sure water is leaking through it. i emailed them to request an exchange, but dont expect to hear back from them.
what can i do to fix this (there are obvious gaps when i open the trunk between the tails and the car.
thanks

i dont have pics but ill try describing it once again...
when i first installed the right side tail light, i noticed that between the bottom of the tail light, and the bumper of the car, there was a gap (about 1/3 of an inch, maybe). the left side was much less.
so i took out the right side, and this time while bolting it in, i bolted the bottom 3 nuts in first...so it would pull the bottom nice and snug...and it lessened the gap (not as little as the left side, but close enough for me to be satisfied).
now when i bolted the top 3 nuts, it all seemed fine, except the lining wasn't as "nice" as the left side. in other words, with the trunk open, looking straight down at the tails (from above) you see that it looks like its somewhat misalighed...the curves arent quite at the right spots..it's ever so slightly off, but noticable, and leaves slight openings....which im worried will allow rain to leak in. i know thats a pretty bad description, but i dont have a digicam. i'll try to borrow one from a friend later and take pics.
thanks for your responses.

I just put mine white/reds on today. Got mine from Matrixracing on ebay. The passenger side was easy to put on. The driver side needed some pushing to get in right. I think the bolts weren't aligned perfectly so it was a little tight. But after some pushing and spreading of the bolts it fit perfect. Nothing else needed, wires, harness everything was great.
There's a reason that these tails are only in the $150 range rather than the $300 range of OEM tails. I have a set of Depot 02-03 style taillights and they definitely don't fit like OEM tails. I had to fudge around with the tails to get them to fit decently. I have a slight gap but I dont know if water will get through. If these tails leak..Im just gonna with OEM tails.

Mine are the Depo ones too, and they fit perfect, like I said the bolts needed to be pushed and forced a little, but no gaps above below or anywhere else on the lights. What year is your car? mines a 00 tl. Maybe that makes a difference for some reason?
