RED-Lining

RED-Lining
Just how bad for the engine is it to red-line? With the resonator off its just so hard not to do! I take it up to 7000-7200 all the time. Am I damaging my baby? Tell me no! P.S. I ALWAYS let my car warm up sufficiently and warm-down. I think warming down is just as important. Am i wrong?

Ya, its been broken in easily, and luckily the car is on lease. I say I take it up to redline about once a day. There is bend i come off of everyday at redline. I could always switch at 6800 or so if that would help. Becuase, hey, I'm not racing

There's no harm in redlining your engine, that's why the red line is placed there. The rev limiter will actually let you rev beyond redline a little bit, which you should try not to do too often. But operating at or near redline is still part of normal engine operation. I doubt very much if the engine will sustain any damage.

I have owned exactly 7 SOHC VTEC (3) or DOHC VTEC (4) Hondas. I have been a member of every club there has been for each of the cars. I myself and everyone I have ever known has bounced of the red line hundreds if not tens of thousands of times (in my case) without a single engine problem. Many of these cars bounced of the red line for 125K miles strait without a single problem. Honda makes em to do it so you should. You end up eating your clutch a little faster...

That is what I wanted to hear
. I red-lined my 2000 TL countless times without a glitch, but wanted to check up on the TLS, just in case. I would never want an engine issue with the TLS becuase the car is just so nice it would hurt too much to put it in the shop. Gonna go make some use of the CAI rumble!

Redlining will not damage your engine. The computer will shut off the fuel to the engine to prevent any damages that will occur. Remember to get the most out of your Honda/Acura is to drive it like you hate it. I do it all the time

1) Needed a daily driver. My S2000 was garage only and I only put 5K mles a year on them. I put the other 10K miles on my 88 Honda Civic DX hatch which I got real dam tired of driving.
a) I wanted to look good all of the time
2) I have owned 10 Honda high reving 4 bangers and am VERY tired of them. I wanted a V6 with more power/torque that I can still track a few times.
a) tired of doing 65mph at 4.5K rmp and very much enjoy it at 1.5K rpm
3) wanted something that will fit my 18 month old now and another later
4) Wanted a Honda
5) the S2000 on normal driving is very tiring... On the track its amazing.
6) Always loved the Legend since it came out... Loved the TL as much, knew it would be my mor "family" car and when the TLs came out.. it had to be mine.
