REASON Tranny SLIPS
REASON Tranny SLIPS
Ok guys, the dealer has the car and they said that since I have been complaing so much they are going to have the service manager take the car home for the weekend and feel it slip. They also said that they will probably just change the tranny because they know I am not lying it's just that the tranny doesn't slip every time I am acc from a stop or gun it on the highway and they have to prove it to Acura that it's slipping. I was talking to a sales rep after I test drove a M3 they had in the parking lot for sale (WOW ) and he told me that the issue is that "ACURA KNOWS ABOUT THE SLIPPING BUT THEY CANNOT PIN POINT WHICH CARS HAVE THE BAD TRANNY. TWO DIFFERENT MANU PRODUCED THE TRANNY AND ONE OF THEM DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE CORRECT SPECS AND THESE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE SLIPPING. I'LL REMIND YOU THAT THIS IS JUST A SALES REP AND HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SERVICE, WE WERE JUST BS'ing. HE CONTINUED TO SAY THAT ACURA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE WAIT FOR THE CONSUMER TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE TRANNY'S THAT SLIP. SOUNDS LIKE ACURA DOESN'T CAR AND IT'S TIME WE STARTED SENDING THEM COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CRAP. THE SALES REP ALSO SAID THAT HE THINKS THE TLS IS A GREAT CAR AND I SHOULD KEEP IT, LET THEM FIX IT AND ENJOY THE CAR BECAUSE IT'S REALLY A NICE CAR. THERE YOU HAVE IT, I'LL BE COMPLAING BUT THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE GOTTEN FREE STUFF FROM ACURA PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN TOO GET SOME FREE STUFF. SEE YA. OH YEAH PAA MEET WHO IS IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY SO WE CAN ROLL IN A PACK.
They don't know the serial #'s? That sounds like BS to me. They can get the # off a bad tranny, or tranny's, & track it to see which tranny manufactor(if there were 2 of them) made it. Then recall each car by the VIN number that has that tranny. I haven't had a tranny problem(knock on wood) but I feel Acura just doesn't really know what is wrong, & can't give a recall because of it. Some people had 2 or 3 tranny's fail. You should see some of the recalls made from other car makers. Simple stuff too, seat belt bolts, harder then normal plastic on the dash, bad oild pan bolts, but Acura with soo many bad tranny's has yet to issue a recall? Something's up.
The truth is that no one on earth, except those working for Honda Japan, knows the exact problems with the failing transmissions. The reason is that all dealerships have to ship the failed transmissions, in one piece, back to Japan to qualify for warranty claims. They are not allowed to disassemble or repair the transmissions unless there is a service bulletin available for the fix. In other words, not even the mechanics who replace the transmissions know what the problems are.
Unless there is a voluntary or forced recall of the transmissions, I really think that we will never know the truth. There is no reason that Honda would voluntary admit that its transmissions are designed or manufactured with defects. This will have seriously impact on the Honda/Acura's quality and reliabiltiy image.

The only gotcha is if they can't really find anything. This way we may find out what the problem is and then force some action.
BTW - I'm 14 months and still spanking the tires going into 2nd gear.

I heard something similar about the transmission from a service rep(friend) that no longer works for acura.
He said that is it was not so much the CORRECT SPECS, but the quality of craftmanship from the manufacturer. He read a report about metal shavings laying around inside the tranny.
I personally think is overheating, but that is just me.
