what does acceleration have to do with a rear tie down, you just added weight to your car, you should feel it being slower. How can your car feel tighter on a straight line ?

i am taking it easy, just saying that it makes no sense. if your taking turns and stuff like that and u feel a difference, then yea. whatever u felt in the straight line is just in your head.

ok...
to make up for my confused post...

here:
______________________________

Keep this in mind the next time you either hear, or are about to repeat a
rumor!

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was well known for his wisdom.
One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who said excitedly,
"Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?"

Wait a moment," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you
to pass a little test.
It's called the TripleFilter Test.

"Triple filter?"

"That's right," Socrates continued "Before you talk to me about my student,
it might be a
good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say.. The first
filter is Truth.
Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and ..."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not.
Now let's try the second filter,
the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student
something good?"

"No, on the contrary ..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but
you're not certain it's true.
You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the
filter of Usefulness.
Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor
good nor even useful,
why tell it to me at all?" .

This is the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high
esteem.
It also explains why he never found out that Plato was banging his wife.

the rear lower tie bar really only makes a difference when you are cornering hard

Hope you get an alignment. The very same nut/bolt you use on the tie-bar is the same one that the mechanics use to align the rear. I'll put my money on you messing up the rear toe.

Why do you need more power? Why do you need better suspention? Why do you need amenities when you are just going to use it for daily driving? The whole reason for this forum is to gather more info on the car you drive, whether you want to mod it, or simply maintain it. I respect Joseph_99TL's decision to do whatever to his car, so in that regards, noone should question why he'd want to improve it...I was just warning him to make sure he gets his alignment checked.

I hope you don't freak out if you are sitting next to me in the passenger seat while I'm driving! I take corners fast and hard. And yes, that's when a good suspension setup and good tires are absolutely critical.

Cheap mod yes. Satisfaction you will get when you start to push the performance envelope of your TL. Image taking a tight corner fast with confidence....now that is satisfaction!

I bought my lower front tie bar from AKRY (and he got it from a group buy earlier in the year). The lower tie bar will not make your car float, it makes your chassis more stiff. Since you already got the rear tie bar, it only makes sense that you get the front tie bar as well.

wow i didn't think i was purposely being hard on the guy. but really when dya need to take a corner fast n hard?!? unless ur running away from the cops :p
now i guess if you live in canada like vancouver you got more chances to do that since we're the land of side streets and just 1 big-azz highway (trans-canada). but the gf yells at me enough for driving fast, so i take the corners easy specially with our shltty stock michelins which i wouldn't trust my life with.

dee, I do live in Vancouver. And most of my driving is on Hwy 1 between Vancouver/Surrey. Yeah, the stock Michelins suck big time, but I recently upgraded them to Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires...really good. No squeals whatsoever at high speeds. You know that exit on Marine Drive (you are eastbound on Marine Dr.) that you take to get on to Knight Street bridge northbound? It's almost 270 degree turn - you know how sharp that turn is right - I believe you are allowed maximum to take that turn at 30 kph (correct me if I'm wrong). Well I took that turn at 70 kph with the new tires, and no problems. And this was before I upgraded my shocks and lower front tie bar. So I think I can do that turn faster than 70 kph the next time around.

So why upgrade your suspension? Reason: a good suspension system allows for better control of your vehicle, thus giving you an edge in accident avoidance. It also provides you with better cornering capabilities when compared to stock. Upgrading the suspension does not automatically mean you are going to drive fast and hard (although it's more fun to do so) - it provides confidence in your driving capabilities that should you ever need to get yourself out of a sticky situation (eg accident avoidance), you can do so because your car is modified to do just that. There are numerous other reasons, but I digress...

valid points. yeah i like to come off that turn quickly so fvckers coming westbound from marine can't get ahead of me in the merge. that's why i hate knight st bridge. i take oak st bridge whenever i can. where didya get your Falkens and how much?

Don't forget the s-shaped overpass from the Arthur Lange Bridge going into Richmond. This one is a killer too.

My favourite is the portion of Highway 99 between West Vanvoucer and Squarmish. The road is twisting left and right, as well as rapid changes in elevation. I just love every minutes of driving through there everytime I go to skiing in Whistler. This is what suspension upgrade is for.
