requires removal of the transmission to access engine rear main seal
Its about 4-5 hours to R&R the trans~ and it weighs 450 pounds!!!!

This is a good time- if covered- to have a traumatic trans failure under warranty!
Then its an extra few dollars and 10 dollar seal from your end while they install a 4000$ transmission for free

TL1668 call acura and register- ask what the first date in service was
The trans warranty is 7 years PLUS 9 months from first date- OR 109- or 114.5 miles
depending if you are part of the odometer overreads vin set- many of us are!
1-800-382-2238 x5 gets a human.
Need your VIN number in hand to register

Thanks for all your replied. Acura replaced my car's transmission around 85,000 miles, now my TL has 120,000 miles. Is rear main seal leaks common to second generation TL?

01tl4tl, just woundering why do I need to register my car?

Thanks again!

if there are future recalls acura will have your name as the owner- thats why you register
You can read things about recalls and make sure your car has been taken care of on those

The engine rear main seal is known to fail from time to time
Its not every car,,, or they would suggest it when the trans gets replaced
PITA job for a 10 dollar part- remove trans to access

rear mains are most common to the 2003. Unfortunately it requires removal of the trans for a 8 dollar part. Its all labor but the dealer could do it in 4 hrs.

Thanks.
