Exclamation really unique situation. help me out please!

here's the deal. the bass/balance knob on my stereo is broken and I cant adjust it. I don't care about the bass, its the balance control I'm worried about. My rear speakers don't work (two door and the subwoofer). Absolutely nothing comes out of them. I'm wondering if my balance switch is turn all the way to the right (giving sound to only front speakers). Since I have no way of checking, I am asking for your guys' help. Could you go into your car and adjust the balance (push in the bass knob until it pops out (bass), and then pull on it until it clicks (balance), then adjust left/right) so that the sound is directed to the front speakers and tell me if ANY sound comes out the rear door speakers or if the subwoofer still works. If so, then I will know there is something wrong with the wiring. If not, (nothing comes out the back speakers and sub when balance is adjusted) I will know that I need to adjust the balance or get a new stereo. Thanks for your help!!!

The Sub should work no matter where the balance/fade is set

x2, sub should work when there is sound regardless of balance/fade.

Open your trunk and look at the subwoofer. Make sure the wire harness is still fully plugged in to the sub. You may have knocked it off at some point.

what does the wire look like? i don't see anything that might resemble a power cord back there. I do have this white cord hanging in the trunk. could you please provide a pic or two? thanks!

Well you're sub wires are missing!! That connector that is hanging in your trunk is the sub wiring. There's supposed to be a small 2"-3" wire harness that plugs into it. The little harness has the connector leads for your subwoofer. You could probably go to your local Acura dealer and have them order it for you. I doubt that they keep it in stock. Once you get that you should have a working sub!

I looked around on a few Acura parts web pages but I couldn't find the little harness that you're missing. You might have to drive your car to the dealer and point it out to the parts guy. Another thing you could try is getting a printout of the wiring diagram of that specific harness from them. That way, you could figure out how to splice into the wiring on your connector (that's hanging in one of the pics) and then connecting it to the sub. I took a picture with my cell phone so it's not that great but it should help.
