Radio Code Problem

My battery died all of a sudden and now my radio wants a code. The code on the sticker in my owners manual wont work. I am the second owner of this car. the dealer gave me a 20 page printout of all the service records from day of purchase. Seems the radio was exchanged at some point under warranty.

This car is a 2000 tl with 103,000 miles out of warranty. What should I do now.

Ideally I could call the acura dealer I purchased it from and explain but I dont want to pay as the new code should have been given to me at purchase

Sigh!!

Is it east to remove the radio myself?

its easy, but dont waste your time. the code isnt always on the radio (at least it wasnt on mine when i removed it). if they exchanged it they should have given you the code then. call back and get them to give it to you somehow. good luck!

Try to disconnect the battery again and wait a while... an hour or two and try it again. It happened to be once where the code would JUST not work the first time we put the battery on and tried it. It was definitely the correct code since the car was new but it wouldn't work. After we left the battery off for an hour we decided to try it again. Then it worked.

We were sure that was the code, but it appears you are not. If you have some tries left give it 1 shot.

I just got off the phone with the dealer. they say that if i can remove the trim on the passenger side I will be a ble to see the serial number on the radios side. He said call him with the serial and they will get the ciode for me.

Is it easy to remove the passenger side trim wood?

if it's the same type of trim as the 2002 (im honestly not sure), then it should be a piece of cake. just open the armrest and pull up the plastic trim where it meets the armrest lid. dont force it, it should snap out nice and easy. if you need to remove more that that then you will just have to start pulling screws. my code wasn't there either, but i have a feeling you will have better luck. let us know how it turns out.

I took off the passenger side trim and iw was easy just like you said. Only serial number or bar code I saw was on a sticker on the wire going to the cig lighter. There are metal brackets on bother sides of the radio and no place do i see a serial number. The radio seems way to hard for me to remove myself. Is there an exact spot on the radio the serial number can be found without removing it entirely?

Thanks

Look under the fuse box cove on the passenger side under the hood next to the firewall. My code was under there. It should be a five digit code. It least that's where the code for both my 02 TL and 92 Vigor

Thanks Tweedle99 but the problem is this is not the original radio and was installed under warranty as a replacement at the dealer. I have the card with the code for the original radio but not this one.

chrisandro, its not too hard to pull the radio. i actually did a quickie writeup on this last week i think it was. search using my name and you should see it. took me 20 minutes to pull it apart the first time. i bet i could do it faster now. good luck.
