Post Radio Code

Got a very nice email from Tina, and she just bought a used 2000TL and she needs the radio code. She doesn't have the card, that has the # on it, and her local dealer was no help.
Does anyone know where she might find it ?
Please email her the answer, and welcome her to join the forum

When my mom bought her '99 CR-V it came from a dealer in central Florida and our local dealer had it shipped down so we could pick it up. I noticed that the radio code card was missing, so I called the original dealer and they were able to look it up for me using the VIN of the vehicle.

Perhaps a call to a few area Acura dealers will net her some better luck!

Cool

My buddy lost his radio card for his Vigor and he needed the dealer to call in his VIN number and the number on the back of the radio...

you might want to pop up your hood and on the passenger side, near the door, there is a fuse box. Open it and there might be the code you need. At least mine is there.

Okay, talked to the dealer and he said that
you have to go to the dealer and show them
the VIN number and show the new registration
and proof of ID (proof that it's your car)
and they can look it up on the computer.

When I used to have my accord I had the same problem. I took my car to MobileOne and all they did was pull the head unit out and on the back of the unit has the code on there. You can go to the dealer too.

The code was on the back of the radio? What's the point of having the code at all then?

Dealers often put the radio code decals in these "secret" locations. They stuck mine to the side of the glove box... I noticed it the first time I opened the glove box and I'm sure any thief would, too.

A lot of dealers are hesitant to give out that information without some kind of proof that you own the car in question, but it can be looked up by VIN number.

As a point of information, the radio code cannot be obtained from the vin # of the car. The only way it can be searched on Acura's computer is to have the serial # that is on the back of the radio itself. I suggest you call the original selling dealer, as we usually record these numbers at the time of pre-delivery inspection. The reason we usually require some proof of ownership is that anybody could steal a radio, call up with the serial # and get get the code- thus defeating the purpose of theft deterrent. Good Luck...
