Well any ways i went to the race track to do quarter mile i weigh 225 pounds and no extra weight like no other people or anything. My Tl-p is all stock. I did 16.9 quarter mile!!!!!!!!! . Is it suppose to do that slow? and i had tcs off and it wasnt even slipping?

how many miles?? Since ur car is like 9 years old if it wasn't maintained well it won't pull good times. I think we are suppose to get mid 15's or something stock 00tl. Basically age has a great factor, unless u keep it well maintained. Tires also make a difference also ur skill of course

well my uncle had a type s and he said to stomp on it when the third yellow light comes on. but i noticed when i stomp on it on D5 no sports shift it think like half a second than starts going????

No i didnt use sports shift just D5 with traction control on nothing was blinking so i dont know if i was slipping than when i turned it off still no slipping. Can it be my tires. they are not sport tires or how ever you call them

I'm far from an expert on this topic...but shouldn't you have used SportShift...just seems like a logical method to quicker times (hence manual faster than auto in qt. mile)...right?

Manual is faster than some auto's. It basically depends how fast the gear changes, faster gear changes faster time. A manual can typically shift faster than a converntional auto. I dunno if SS allows for faster shifts but it lets you hold the gears longer. Also traction control can slightly affect your time esp if it goes off during your run.

Here's a good question:
At which rpm should we shift to get the most power and result in the fastest time??

OP you should try holding your foot on the brake and gas at the same time-gets the revs up and will take the "slack" out of your converter, then release the brake and mat the gas on the third yellow.

What was your MPH??

mid 15's is where you should be.. and if your car is running basically 17's.. the last thing you need to worry about is running faster times.. you should probably put money into preserving the car before it dies completely.

and to all the SS people out there... leave the damn car in auto if you want good times and consistant times... the sport shift is for downshifting in situations where the auto normally wouldnt... curves, passings situations etc:

dont think SS is a paddle shifter

I got to 84 Mph. I was like slowest at the track even civics got better time that wernt tuned that much. i felt disappointed.

if anything, be dissapointed in the previous owner.. the car is only performing as it was treated. hopefully you can restore some of its power and performance.

but like i said, in its current state.. it sounds like it needs to stay away from WOT and any racing situations.

that shoulda been your first sign.. these cars will light the tires up without TCS on. i know i lose tenths from wheel spin for sure on some runs..

and mileage shouldnt be a big factor if the cars maintained... as im coming up on 200k in a year - year and a half. im running within factory specs.

Not for nothing IMO Our trannys play a major role also, if your tranny is on its way out, the reaction times wouldnt be great a healthy tranny......I really dont even bother with out 1/4 times, I just tell everyone I know to see me on a 80 roll start, you gotta love 5spd AT(the healthy ones).....that shits a big difference, plus to even get our cars 1/4 times really mouth dropping we DEF need some type of forced induction.............

No. There is a larger delay in shift time with SS, and unless you have a 99 the trans will automatically shift for you in 1st in SS, which isnt always the best time to shift. You need to shift JUST before the revlimiter kicks in to get the best times.

84mph wont get you anywhere even close to 15's man...Id just stay away from the track unless you love to race it

well, I guess if you run it as hard as she can go repeatedly eventually the strain will toast the transmission. It seems like a lot of people on here who have had luck with longevity on these transmissions are easy on them, and the ones who hot dog all the time are the ones that seem to have more problems...

I guess its all up to you and how much you plan on racing..
