Post Raced Integra GS-R

I saw this Integra GS-R that looked hooked up so I decided to take him on. I must admit, his car was pretty fast. We were dead even from 60 to about 110 (I couldn't catch him and he couldn't pull away) and by the time I hit 120, I was closing on him fast to the point I thought I was going to rear end him. We got caught at the toll booth and he was in front of me so he waited for me. Then we took off again, same result, until I hit 120 I really couldn't gain on him. I noticed a big white sticked on his rear window that said Vertex Motorsport (the local pro shop I get my car done at). I decided to call them and see what the hell this Integra had cuz I thought it was pretty fast (I actually thought I was going to smoke him but I didn't til we were really flying). They informed me that it was a GS-R with CAI, headers and exhaust. Not bad for an Integra. Now, I can't wait for my headers to show up. I really thought I was going to smoke him and after today, I have a little more respect for those Integras.

Ok, just found out that my CAI filter is like dirty as shit from getting wet and crap. Perhaps I lost some power due to this since the filter was almost completely clogged. I actually held water in it and it dripped out ooooh sooooo slow. I cleaned it and should get better performance. I know it will happen over and over so next week I'm going to convert it into a Short Ram.

AC:

I'm assuming you were on the Dulles Toll Road...Not a good place to race. There are ALWAYS state troopers on the toll road.

Speaking of GSR's, I raced an Integra Type R out on 28N on thanksgiving night. We hit about 130.

So where is that place, Vertex Motorsport at?

Stock GS-R goes to 60 in about 7 seconds if you're good.. U shouldn't have a problem running with it...it's on top over that speed that you will dominate.

I raced a GS-R in my TL about a month ago, When my car was bone stock. It was very fast, I only pulled on her when we hit the 110-120's. I did hear a peculiar pssht pssht noise coming from the girls car. Sounded notoriously like a purge valve on NOS equipped vehicles. But I'll never know.

Actually I was on the toll road and I agree, lots of cops!!! I just couldn't help myself. I must admit, the guy in the Integra wasn't some pissed off punk rice boy! After we were done, we waived each other.

Vertex is in McLean, ask for Alvin and tell him Alex with the white TL referred you! 703-883-0403 (Vertex Motorsports in McLean, VA)

Oh, did you take the TypeR?

I agree, when we hit like 120 I thought I was going to run into his back end. The GS-R, according to Vertex (spec wise) should have been equivalent to a TypeR or a tad better according to those guys. They said they worked on that car many times. Now, will my headers make a noticeable difference cuz I don't want to win when I hit 120, but I want to win convicingly.

When I had a 94 Legend I raced my friend's CRX (intake, headers, exhaust) and man he kept up behind me all the way o 130. I'm beginning to believe more and more that weight has a huge factor.

AC: Even the stock TL had a real hard time to race with mod GSR. Note that Integra is a compact coupe and TL is a lot heavier than GSR. TL still consider as a quick FF sedan so far.

once i raced this integra on I-95, i couldnt loose til 130mph. in fact that car was goin ahead of me. it all depends on what they have under the hood. I even raced a stock looking civic that pulled almost 135mph along w/ my car!!

So the guys at Vertex told you that A GSR with only intake, headers, and exhaust will be equivalent to a Type R?

I think they're wrong. A type R STOCK would still beat this car.

AC:

A cop that lives in my neighborhood (state trooper) told me that he ONLY works the toll road. Be careful out there dude. I'm gonna call Vertex to see how much they will charge to put the comptech headers on my S.
Thanks for the info!

I beat the Type R and he beat me too. We went back and forth, VERY evenly matched. Although, off the line, with one person in each car, I can win EVERY TIME.

my friend has a modded gsr. i haven't raced him after i got my mods but i think we would be about even. I did before I had mods and we were even for the most part. The TL is no race car but i like to smoke civic sis. They totally lose power after second gear.

I had a 95 GS-R.

The stock 2000 TL is overall faster than the stock GS-R in a straight line. Plus, you have to drive the Integra much harder than the TL to get the speed.

In braking and cornering, the Integra is much better.

But I couldn't stand it's highway ride and noise anymore.
