Raced a cop last night

I was driving in some annoying traffic last night. Two cars ahead of me in each lane doing speed limit. I am on their tail, trying to convince the left lane hogs to move up a bit, but they did not. This lasted for 20 minutes or so.

Came to traffic light (highway has a couple of traffic lights). Light turned green. Luckily the two cars in the left lane took off more quickly than the two cars in the right lane, so I went to the right lane and sped away. But not too much - the median there is woodsy and one time before I already got a ticket there from a cop who was hiding behind the trees.

So I speed up to 75 or so in the 65mph limit. That's when I see two headlights quickly swinging to the right lane behind me and then quickly approaching. First I thought it was a Mustang, but then I realize that the car looks wider than a Mustang. The headlights look more narrow than the modern Crown Vic, but kind of similar. So while I was trying to figure out what kind of car it was, I unintentionally slowed down to about 70. I am glad I did. He catches up to me and I see that it is a cop, driving the previous model Crown Vic. He paces me for a few seconds and then speeds up, I keep driving at 70mph. He speeds away.

But then up ahead I see that he has to stop in front of a light that just turned red.

Then I arrive to the same red light. He is in the left lane. I am in the right. The light turns green.

I accelerate strongly, so does he. I made sure to not chirp the tires. Just steadily outdragged him.

He was in the left lane, I was in the right. He then got behind me (2-3 feet) and stayed there for a minute or so. Probably was reading my license plate. I maintaned 65mph. He then swung out and passed me on the left. As he was a few feet ahead of me, he "chirped" his red and blue lights and then very quickly accelerated toward the horizon.

Hey that's not so bad. I've done the same.

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=35040

Prior to that, I was at a stop light and the cop was stopped also, to my left. Both lanes go straight but on the other side of the stop light, my lane (the right lane) immediately merges left, so there's only one lane.

When the light hit green, I slammed it and the cop did too trying to keep me out. I wasn't having any of it and I beat him and got in front just in time to keep it at/under the speed limit. Ok so I took off a little bit early, that helped.

He didn't pull me over (why would he?) but he was on my tail (tailgating) and my foot was shaking but it was fun for a second.

Are you fn nuts. Why would you ever do that to a cop. I can only say DON"T PET THE GATOR. As well my bigest pet peeve of drivers, other than people clogging up the fast lane and driving slow, are those a$$holes who drive on the shoulder of the road. Its plain dangerous and shows a certain immaturity that you have no patience.

congrats to all who race cops and win sometimes they need a little reality check. i know most of the cops where i live so they cut me a little slack and every once in a while we drag especially when they get a new car. im always surprised at just how fast those crown vics are, gives me a little reality check too.

Amazing. Even I wouldn't have done that. Probably up to about 90 mph before I broke it off.... 125/135, no way; not a chance.

You call that a "race"? o_O* It looks more like you we're just acclerating(sp?) fast....it wasn't like you two we're going at it ! so I don't know that's considering a race.

I say you go boy! I always hate it when I'm driving just over the speed limit...and the cop knows it...we pull up to the red light, and he shows off by flooring it...I've done this many times...hard on the accelerator but not reckless hard...up to the speed limit...makes them swallow a bit , swallow the "fear me I am a cop and can go faster than you and break the law doing it" thing.

I don't think you got balls rusty.

I think its ignorance.

What do you get out of racing a cop. You will never win. Its a lose lose situation.

What are you going to do next pick a fight with a cop.:yack:
