Quick tranny question

Is a stiff shift form 1st to 2nd normal for a type s? That is what the service department said when I said there was something odd with my transmission.

Yes - when the engine/tranny is cold. Once it's warmed up it should be smooth.

why is this normal, my other cars do not do this.

Its just the way Honda auto. trannies are built.
