Question quick question

I'm thinking about removing my CAI and re-installing the OEM airbox. I can not take the sucking and squeaking noise anymore that the CAI makes when I step on the gas, it's unbelieveably annoying and IMO I don't think a TL should sound like that. Anywayz, I was wondering which drop in filter makes the most HP or if the same which one is reccommended: Comptech or K&N? I have had the K&N drop in filter on my TL for like two weeks when I first got it and then switched to the CAI, but can't really remember if there was any performance gain or sound difference over stock. Thanks

I heard that the comptech is better than the k & N, but i like K&N because of the reputation. Seriously though, you will not feel any gains, if you do its most likely a mental gain in power. BTW, if you have a non type S, what kind of intake do you have and do you wnat to sell it to me.

Bigman, If you want I'll sell you my AEM C.A.I w/Bypass-valve for a reasonable price that's negotiable. That's if my friend w/a 2000 TL-P doesn't want it. I'll keep you updated.

I agree with bigman...that is most of these add-ons are more mental than actual. They might be good for a few ponies, but nothing that can be felt. I would go with the K&N personally, I had one before and they also have a good rep.

Bigman, I have an OBX Racing Sports CAI(chrome), but the mounting bracket that holds it in place at the top snapped off half way so I have been using muffler repair strapping to secure it in place with black electrical tape over the strapping and couplers for looks(came yellow eww)...it is on tighter now than when I got it new and works perfectly fine and comes with a K&N "type" filter that is not dented or anything...The piping itself has some scratches on it. I want to be honest with you. If you're looking for a CAI that works perfect and that is inexpensive, it is worth considering...I bought it for $100. If you want it I will sell it to you for $60 including shipping, so I can use that money to get the drop in filter. Let me know Heres a pic:

LOL....All intakes are more mental than actual gain. Reason why? sound. Don't get me wrong there is gain with all of them, but not as much as you think.

VTEC, so ur gonna give me $20 plus ur K&N filter(less than a week old) for my CAI. Is that correct? If so, that sounds about right, cuz the filter is like $35 + the $20 = $55. Sound good, plus we can meet up since we are both close to each other in South Florida

I would personally go with comptech high flow, but in reality they are both a lot better than stop paper filter.

I'd go with the K&N filter $39.99. 1,000,000 miles warranty is hard to beat
