Quick AEM intake question (Poll)

I just ordered the AEM intake without the Bypass. I was wondering how many people have this setup in their car. By that I mean the intake WITHOUT the bypass!!! And does anyone know of anyone that has even gotten Hydrolock b/c they didn't have bypass? I haven't seen one case and I heard don't bother with the bypass b/c you have the same chance of getting hydrolock with the stock intake as with the AEM with no bypass

Thanks

I had the intake without the bypass for 2 weeks... It rained so much I decided it was a wise investment to spend 45 dollars...
Now I can drive however you want in the rain.

It could save you alot of problems especially with the dealership because your engine warranty will be voided if it is decided that the intake was the reason why your engine ingests water... JMO

Its really easy to install as well.

True and this seems to be everyones advice but what is the real probability of ingesting water? I had a 97 Z28 with an Intake on it without any kind of bypass and I had it for like 3 years with no problems. and that car is much lower

Spend an extra $45-$50 for the bypass, and drive with a peace of mind. Think about it. Would you rather spend less $$$ now or alot more down the road if your car injests water?:p

unless you are driving in deep water, there is no need for a bypass.

you car will never be in the depth of water that it needs to mess anything up.

When your car is lowered with a cold air intake it is very scary to drive thru deep puddles on the side of the road... especially when i try to pull into a drive way with a large stream of water running down the curb..

In southern ca you will never need the bypass valve unless thru some act of God, So Cal suddenly floods. the intake is covered by bumper and plastic splash gaurds so unless you actually drive through deep water then you wont have a problem.

thats what I thought. I am not going to bother even here in NJ. I had one on my camaro and that is way lower than this and I never had 1 problem. Plus why should I give up 1 or 2 HP to put that thing on if I don't need it.

Watch this I will be the first guy with Hydrolock!!!! Knock on wood

Seotaji, nameeri is rite, unless you drive into the deep water all the time then you'll need the bypass valve but other than that, you dun need it

His post agrees with mine.

I have meshed fog holes so my filter is exposed to air. It gets VERY wet when it rains and no I don't drive through deep puddles. I'm glad I have the bypass valve for that added safety.

I have a 99 w/ no bypass. I think we get more rain up here than most of you down there. I agree that the aem is fine unless you drive through a really deep pool of water. My cousin had an integra before and the air filter was practically exposed to the elements and he had no problems what so ever. Has anyone ever had any problems here?

I've had mine on for a year - a year with record rainfall even for the Seattle area - my car is lowered, and I've had no problem.
