Questions on changing brakes
Hey all my car has been shaking when stopping so I am getting to ready to change out my front rotors and pads. First of all I saw a diagram here of the breaks and there are some cover plates that go behind the brake pads. I got green stuff pads and they came with some low noise shims that you are supposed to stick on the back of the pads. Can the stock pad covers and these shims be used at the same time or would that make them not fit? Also a friend was telling me to let a tiny bit of break fluid out so the piston compresses so you can fit the new brake pad. Is this necessary? The brake guide I saw on here did not mention bleeing, so is it ok to compress the piston with a C clamp and not bleed? I ordered the factory service manual but it is taking a really long time to get here and I need to get this done soon. Can I just use the directions in the brake guide PDF that was posted on this site or is there anything special that is not covered in that guide that is mentioned in the service manual? Thanks for any help.

There is nothing special to do with our brakes. I would only use the shims that came with the brakes (if any) I havent used any shims on mine in over 200k now with out issue. Deffinatly dont try to use both. As for fluid, remove the cap then use a c clamp to compress the piston. Bleeding the brakes after wards isnt necesary but it is recomended especially if it hasnt been done yet
