Question for TL-P owners with headers.....

I'm thinking about getting Comptech headers for my 2000 TL-P. Is it worth it? What kind of gains should I expect? How's the sound? Any input would be great. Thanks.

I really like mine. If you get the AEM CAI, CT headers, and CT exhaust the sound is amazing

That's what I have--you don't NEED a cat-back

Sure, but if you want to stay legal, ck your local and state laws before doing so

CT axle back, or Super Draggers...I opted for the CT set-up b/c of the subtle tasteful looks and the exhaust note it has

Exhaust in our cars is completely cosmetical. It adds between 1 and 2 HP. That's it. So if you got the money, go for it.

As for the headers, IMO the Comptech are WAY overpriced, and the gain you get does not even come close to warrant the cost. I went OBX for $300 and im keeping my fingers crossed i dont have welding issues.

i prefered and still do the comptech. they have a nice sound, yes you can remove teh resonators, not the catalitic coverter though. the comptech has the option of quiet tip inserts which is nice. i have both resonators removed, so on the weekends i can be loud and proud, but durring the week i put the inserts in (only takes like 30 sec) and im back to a nice subdued rumble. here is the sound of the comptech no resonators http://www.acurainspired.com/gallery...=373&pid=20785

I definitely agree with Darkshear--CT is overpriced. That's why you should keep your eyes open on eBay, forums, etc. and get 1 used. Don't buy it new. Your gonna get raped. I got mine for $350 shipped off eBay. CT bolts right up--no "welding issues" to worry about or any other crap.

Yeah you can feel it all around the curve, but most of all at the top end. its the largest-gain bolt-on mod you can do to our car.

Like all Vtec engines the power is going to be up top. Trust me, headers are the best mod (short of the Supercharger for the Type-S) that you can put on your car. 20+whp can not be ignored.

I'd agree with trying to find them used. I will agree Comptech is overpriced but the quality and performance is top rate. You won't have to worry about them not fitting or the weld cracking. The same can't be said about OBX or Stone Racing... although there are many members that have had no issues; then again those members can experience problems too: http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85684

tell me about it...i got my WW kit, spoiler, UR crank, OBX stainless steel headers, Vafc and not to mention all the other stuff i've gotten and all the MONEY I've saved.

god bless ebay

**You can expect the same gains from the CT headers and the OBX. same size, bend style...just not the welding nor the warranty backup.

I think the P's redline is at 6300 but the comptech website has it pulling up to 6750. I put headers in my 2000TL and had high expectations. There's an increase in power but not as much as I expected. I don't notice anything until 5000 rev's which leaves you only 1200 rpm to utilize. When the car shifts the rpm drop below 5K and below any gains. But since adding CAI headers and going synthetic I notice that I'm getting 40 to 60 more miles per tank of gas. The gas light use to always come on at 280 but now never before 320 to 340.
