Leaking coolant

Damn For the past week my car has been over heating or been faning alot after short drives. I drove to school about 15 mintues and back and my car starts fanning. Then today I went down the street, about 5 minutes drive, I came home went to pick up mail and saw a trail of wet spots. I reversed my car and saw a puddle of green shit. Damn I ma leaking coolant for sure. I hope its nothing serious. Its the long weekend and I am sure no one is open on fourth of july so I cant et my car fixed until Tuesday. I hope its jsust a pipe leakin or sumthing, nothing major. This happen to anyone before if so what is the out come of fix. Well I once hope again its NOT something MAJOR

did you mention before that you pick it up at an auction?
Open the radiator cap(while cold ofcoarse) and see if its foamy in there(like the head on a rootbeer float) If so you have oil in the coolant and a blown/warped and/or leaking motor. That's worst case so start there, I cant see it being a hose(your car just isnt old enought to have a rotton hose)could be though.

If the water pump went then that may also explain the leak. Most pumps have a weep hole near the botom that alows coolant to escape.

The thermostat could have gone south too. But I thought that, anymore, when they go they fail in the open position.
