Question for the ICEBOX guys
Got mine a few days ago, but just haven't had the time to do the install yet, and may not for awhile.
I had a question about the install. I already took my resonator out awhile ago, adn wanted to know if I still needed to drop the bumper in order to install it. If I dont need to still, I may be able to do the install much earlier. Thanx in advance.

You can do it without dropping the bumper. Just open the panel and you can reach up and install the air horn on the lower icebox. You should be able to get yours done in less than an hour with time to spare.
Good choice.

Thanx man. I wanted to know if I could have somehow finagle that lower air horn piece in through the engine bay, but looking at it, I think its just too big, but dropping the wheel well liner is much less annoying than dropping the bumper again for the 10th time and breaking more clips. Thanx again.

Is the "Ice-Box" better than a CAI for HP gain?
It looks like junk to me, at least the one I saw -Comptech Black thing with at Least 3 c-clamp looking connectors ..LOL
I need to choose what to install with the Comptech Headers

I think on the on the CL board, they are saying the HP gains are very close (CT with 2 or 3 HP more than AEM).
The selling point fo me was the "ease of cleaning" factor. It take 3 screws to take the filter out for maintance. With the salt in Toronto winters, it is almost impossible to remove the clips on the splash guard to get to the filter of a conventional CAI.

A quick and simple search got me this thread witha link to videos of the dyno testing. He did many runs, so his gains are real, and the Icebox held a power and even greater torque advantage over the AEM.
The winner for me was that its much much quieter, and since the filter is not exposed in the bumper, it does not get starurated every time it rains like the AEM does. Its a simple design, and Im not sure why it took so long for someone to finally release it.

Yup it is, thats what sold me on the Icebox.
Did the install yesterady, and just so everyone knows, since I had already removed the resonator, the netire installwas done from the engine bay. Didnt even have to remove the wheel well lining.
Gains are sweet, definitely noticeable, and makes the power band nice and smooth now. The power band seems more linear now, and its nice and quiet, so I can still contrinue to beat on cars but still keep the luxury and refinement.

About the headers, I didnt install these on my TL-S. I just didnt have the clearance to get at the rear bank, and without airtools for some of the rusty bolts, I didnt want to bother. Park Ave Acura did the install.
I installed a set on my last Accord, it took me several hours, and had to go to a muffler shop first to have the bolts loosened. That was just one bank though, and on this car access to the rear bank with just my hydraulic jack would have made the install doable, but a major pain. For $200 I left PAA do the install which was well worth it to me for whats involved.

I just re-read my last post .. I mis-typed.. i meant could you help me w/ my Icebox install?
Also .. how many miles on your TL-S when you installed the headers? I have 25,000 now, do you think it'll be too hard for the Acura boyz to install my Comptech headers?

Bigsherv do a search for Icebox.
Peter, np man, just make sure its not too far down the road, or I am going to forget.
Just let me know when you get it.
I dont have any resonance problems really when driving from anything, but in park when standing at the front of the car, you can hear the slight sound of the intake sucking in air. The headers produce an extremely low hum at around 3k or so, but its something only I pick up on rarely, and its just the sound of the air going through the pipes. No one in my car has ever heard it, and its not something I notice when driving, with my 19's now, I cant even hear it over the normal tire noise.
P.S. The Icebox comes with its own tiny resonator built into the intake tube so both mods add good power with little loss in luxury, and you wont even now you have an intake in regards o sound until you really get up there in the upper rpm band which you wont hit when driving casually.
