Does anyone know a good place to get a front windshield for 2000 TL? I don't want to spend alot of money but i want a OEM windshield from Honda. I was trying to find a junkyard but couldn't find one...Can someone help me out? Thanks

I replaced my windshield with the OEM at the Acura dealer for $680 (09/2001). At first my insurance was suspicious and requested a written estimate from the dealer, but when they saw the price they didn't object. I also told them that windshield has to be OEM, because it has embedded navigation system antenna, which was a lie (there is a radio antenna). I asked Acura to write that in their estimate, but they didn’t want to go that sleazy path, and wrote “windshield with OEM integrated antenna” – no specifics. Anyway, I got it replaced!

As with the above poster, you might be able to get your insurance company to replace it as it is one of the few items that is not subject to your deductible, at least with my insurance company. I would however recommed lying to them, just make the request straight up, and see if they will cover it.

Allot of states have zero deductible for windshield replacement. I know Florida is one of them.

I thought the antenna is located on the back glass, not front windshield.

May be on both. There is something there that surely looks as antenna and that’s what I told insurance first time I called them. I wasn't lying and I don't recommend anybody to lie. When I talked to the insurance I sincerely believed that that was a navigational antenna – what else could it be right above navy system? Acura mechanic corrected me (radio antenna) and wrote that (antenna) in the estimate that he sent to the insurance...

I just got an OEM replacement from Safelite. My insurance covered it. There is no antenna in the fron windshield and dealers are rip-offs. They don't do the work themselves, they contract someone like Safelite to come and do it and mark it up.

Unless you are very familiar with the production process of OEM windshield and the aftermarket one, you have no idea whether they are different or not. Even the use of the same materials doesn’t indicate that parts are identical. Processes, equipment etc play very significant role. And the price difference also tells you a lot - it's not entirely "dealers rip-off". Personally, I prefer OEM, especially when insurance picks up the tab.

Yes, OEM replacement has this thing... If it's not an antenna, what is it? I don't believe it serves no or just "cosmetic" purpose. Does anybody know for sure?

so if insurance doesnt pick it up or you have a deductable that is the price of the windshield (600bucks) you still get the oem, when there is no difference? i go through on average of 1 windshield a year, and i wont waste the money on oem any more. i used to but its cheaper and the glass is just as good.

You right, if I were going through one windshield a year as you are (what happens to them???), and I would have to pay for them - yes, I would definitely consider aftermarket… BTW, is it possible that you have to change them once a year because it’s an aftermarket???
