Question about sport shift

Just got my TL-S and i tried SS for the first time last night. I put it over to SS at a stop light and when i turned green i slowly accelerated and once it got to about 2,500 it shifted to 2nd for me is that normal?

I got mine last night too and it does the same thing. I was kind of curious about this too. I thought you can shift it as you'd like. I have not been pushing the car yet, still breaking in, but couldn't you get it up in the RPM's before it shifts to second?

Ya thats what i thought too, that you could bring it up to whatever RPM you wanted to then shift. Maybe its different when you accelerate hard.

Yes the Sport- Shift will shift from 1st to 2nd itself this is normal.
Only the 1999TL 4speed do you have to shift from 1st to 2nd they changed that on the 2000 model when they made it 5 speed.

If u read the manual it tells why it shifts. Its to make sure u don't blow your engine. But after second u are in full control. (Kinda Sorta)

Welcome new TL-S owners. Yes, the SS will shift for you going from 1st to 2nd. However, if you accelerate hard off the line, it won't shift as quick and you'll enjoy the high rpm power. If that still bothers you, you can always go down to the "hard 1-2" (last knotch in the shiftbox) and shift there, it doesn't shift from 1 to 2 if you do it that way. I wouldn't recommend it though.
