Question About Passenger Side Mirror Tilt

I have noticed recently that when I put the car in reverse, sometimes the passenger side mirror does not tilt down. Is this normal? Does something need to be activated for this feature to work (such as headlights on, or parking lights on, or a special button somewhere activated)? Or is it time to get it checked?

Make sure the pwr mrror L/R side selector is slided in between both the left/right indents.

It needs to be in neutral for the mirror to work.

If you have the power mirror adjustment button set to adjust the right mirror, it will not tilt when in reverse.

Make sure it's in the middle or towards the left and it should tilt.

Give that a shot....

The Left Mirror/Right Mirror switch should be in the middle. If you left it in either Left Mirror or Right Mirror position, the mirror won't tilt..

Is there anyway to retrofit the passenger side mirror tilt feature into a 99 TL? If so, what would be involved?

Thanks.

If you look carefully at the markings on the mirror controls on the door, you will see the "L" and the "R" on both sides of the selector switch. In the middle is an icon of a mirror with an arrow inside pointing down, thus indicating the position the switch needs to be in for the tilting mirror feature to work.

On another related note, if the switch is not in this center position, I believe the mirrors will not adjust when you select one of the memory seating positions. Only the seat will move.
