question about LED high beam
question about LED high beam
hi
so i got those 9005 LED

when i turn on the car only one works and some DLR or DRL light comes on
and when im doing the hight beam both of them work
how do i fix it? and whats that DRL light?

drl is the daytime running lights.
When my drl light comes on in my dash my car is in Park with the handbrake on and the lights are off. As soon as I release the handbrake the light on the dash goes off and the lights come on.
I'm not sure but maybe the LED's can't be lit on low, (when you don't have the actual highbeams on).

yea..
when i just turning on the ignition only the right light works
but when im pulling the highbeam both of them work
why? how can i do that both of them will work without the hightbeam?

I'm not sure. I'm wondering if when the daytime running lights are on, they are using the high beam bulbs, but with a lower voltage....maybe one of your lighting harness' is running a lower voltage, to low to get that LED to light up. So when you switch on your high beams it works because it's receiving the voltage it needs.
The thing with that is that LED's usually need LESS power than regular incandescent bulbs so in that theory they should work at any voltage regular bulbs work within. When you swapped these in were both of the old bulbs working?

yes both of the old working i put them back
but the LED's just one
and i think you r right about the one of my lighting harness' is running a lower voltage
how can i do it higher voltage? maybe by puting an amplifier?

I'm not sure if there's a way to increase the voltage of your lighting system. This problem could stem from anything the socket, to a wiring short, either one can be a royal pain to figure out. In the end it might not be worth it....it's up to you.
I would just stick to the incandescents and leave it...

for getting the DRL's stock, but i sure don't mind not having the rust on those cars though lolbut anyway's the easiest way to get full power to both lights during drl operation would to be just put a relay in there, and put battery voltage to both, and have the drl module just control the relay
now if the drl burned out bulb indicator turns on, easiest way would just to pull the bulb out of the cluster from behind (it be best to keep it fully functional though, and keep it off without just pulling the bulb out
and as far as only one turning on, is it always the same side (driver or passenger), it might have something to do with how the LED's are diodes and only lighting up one way (not really sure how they are wired on the car from the factory; but let me look into it a little more though)
kinda looking at the wiring diagram, is it the passenger side/right headlight that does not turn on???, if so it's because it get reverse polarity with the DRL's but correct polarity with the high beams on
yea only the passenger side comes on
even if i put the LED in the passenger side and i keep the stock bulb on the driver side
only the LED light will come on..
and i didnt get that
what should i do to give power to both of them?

does the stock bulb come on dimmly at least??? (if so you might just need some resistors to even out the amp draw by both, but that might dim them when on HIGH beam, depending on exactly where they get put in)
but as said above putting a relay in there would probably be your best bet, with the drl module just triggering that relay, which then supplys battery voltage to the bulbs

maybe you should just let someone else wire it up
but anyways, you put the coils side of the relay and hook those up to where the bulbs are connected too, then the contacts side, one goes to the battery, then the other side goes to the bulbs now, which then also need to be grounded
