Question about climate control

Hey guys.

Was wondering about the climate control ... if you have it set to auto ...when exactly does it turn the AC on ...is it always on? I prefer not to use AC so to conserve fuel ...

it is usually on, you can check because you can hear the AC compressor turn on. I really never use the Auto because I like to control it more.

Push AUTO and then press the A/C button.....this will turn the compressor off (indicator will read "a/c off"). I do this most of the time when I don't need cooling (this time of the year) or defrosting the windows.

if you use any of the manual controls while the Auto fuction is on, it will turn off and go back to manual only

Correct.....you can push a/c twice, or auto and then a/c, both will turn on the climate control (fan) without the compressor.

ya but he was talking about the AUTO function to where you set the temp and dont mess with anything else. If you push auto then go into the manual A/C controls, you will disengage the auto function.

if you have auto on, the A/C compressor will run the whole time i am pretty sure

It'll cycle the compressor. Sometimes when I hit "AUTO" the compressor doesn't engage, sometimes it does.

Climate control

According to Acura service, the A/C compressor, dis-engages, at 32*
Therefore, you should self-regulate the thermostat, by clicking off the A/C compressor.
The ONLY time it automatically comes on, is when the defrost mode is engaged

no...if you want the auto feature on, you cant adjust anything except the temp. it will adjust the proper amounts of air conditioned air, fan speed, and the actual temp. to get the in car air to your desired temperature.

you can tell if you have it on AUTO, then try to change the fan speed, or turn the AC off, the Auto light will go off turning the system back over to manual control

The air in the winter is a good thing cause it helps prevent teh cars windows from fogging up.

compressor will engage only when necessary in teh auto mode. When the temp is cranked to 75 on a 40 degree day, the compressor will not run

I'll check on that one....as far as I remember, the compressor will always cycle in "auto" or "full auto" mode (when the fan is in auto as well) regardless of the temp setting. I believe the only time the a/c will not cycle is if you then hit the a/c button in auto or full auto mode ("a/c off" displayed)..
