Question question about buying spray paint

about how many cans of spray paint would i need to paint the engine cover and the woodgrain trim inside the car? i plan on ordering it from paintscratch but it is $25 per can so i dont wanna buy extra if its not needed but since im ordering it i dont wanna start painting and then run out and have half of my trim painted and half woodgrain.

also..i plan on doing this all body color. about how much do you think it would cost if i just went to an auto paint shop and had them order my paint color in a can. im just looking for the best deal.

thanks

I got someone who can do it for cheap, he did my engine cover. I wouldn't think you would need more than 2 or 3 cans but that depends also on how many coats you want to do. Plus you want to clear it after so that is another can or 2.

I had a body shop do all those pieces for $100.

But if you want to do it yourself, I would get 3 cans. You'll need multiple coats on all the pieces. Don't forget the clear coat too.

Just make sure you spend a good amount of time prepping the wood grain pieces or the paint will fail.

Prep is as important as anything else. Sand good, Clean good fill any scratches, sand, primer, sand, paint. DONT rush the paint. Its not supposed to cover in 1 or 2 coats. Make it take 3-4 coats to cover. Do it in a dust free environment, no wind blowing.

I painted this trim for a member once (as a favor and because i had the material left over from painting racing stripes on a different car). Its not SSM but it will show you how it will look. I would recommend wetsanding and polishing afterwards for a even better finish.
Anthracite Metallic.

right now im more concerned about painting the interior trim than the engine because nobody will really see that unless i show them or take pics. would one spray can be able to do the 4 door pieces, the 2 console pieces, and maybe even the shiftgate? id probably do about 3 coat each

I would get 2 cans to be safe. That way you have enough for the under hood stuff as well.

Yea he has Monterey Blue Pearl but wanted AM. You need to pick something that goes good with your Fern interior if your not going with body color.
