Im just curious does anyone know what the qauter mile time is for a bone stock TL s and the 04 TL ? ? ? taking an 04 TL to the track on friday and i want to know how bad of a driver i am . . . 04 TL has a low gear. . should i drive it in LOW ? ? (does it not go past 2nd. . . or just use the SS im pretty damn good with it ? ?. . . any way just wanted to know what the qauter mile times are said to be. . like in motor trend or whom ever has taken a stock tl to the track for fun any feed back would be nice. . . thanks guys

 

The 04 TL, unlike the TL-S, will automatically shift from 1st to 2nd in "L". For the 04, I would either run in SS letting the computer shift the 1-2 for me, or do the same thing in "L" and then once in 2nd gear switch to SS mode and shift on my own.

Also, be careful with the 04 in SS mode. It hits the rev limmiter much easier than the TL-S does (TL-S has some extra space beyone the redline, which the 04 DOES NOT). So definitely practice your shifts before going to the track.

 

Most of the cars I saw at Moroso were running around 14.9-15.0 stock. I have only been there twice, though. The humidity kinda saps you down there.
Magazine wise, probably 14.7 for TL-S, 14.6 for TL. Those are all interchangable numbers from differents mags. I'd shoot for 14.7 in S. Florida and see what happens...

ps--My car only ran 14.4xx at Moroso in September when it was pretty hot...

 

Hey guys thanks for the advice weather is predicted at 53F for friday night i doubt it but we'll see what happens. . . didn't realize that on the 04 i have an 03 type S. . . but really haven't taken the 04 to the extreame in 2nd gear and tried shifting but i will practice on the ride up to moroso and i'll tell u guys what i get

well it was about 54 degrees out tonight beautiful night huh . . yea def. was took the 04 out to moroso and as promised i have slips but there not right infront of me at this time. . best run was a 15.3 i feel thats shitty . . then again i have no idea how to launch that car my Type S has a way better reaction time than this thing. . . tomorrow when it isn't 3:30 am i will def. get all the info down for u guys and tell u what a bone stock 04 TL really does haha got to run down the track 3 times!! take it easy guys and stay legal hahah take it to the track
