aem bypass valve

before anyone asks....yes ive tried using the search button but all that came were for sale threads...

i just ordered an aem cai....i live in NY and as most of you know we get a fair amount of rain and shitty weather...is it really necessary for me to order a by-pass valve also or so you think i could do without it...

I dont have it and havent had any problems so far (knock on wood). If you dont drive into a lake, you should be fine. Also, people have had more problems with the bypass valve than without it (ie. breaking and getting jammed in the throttle body). I've also heard that the bypass kills any performance gains you get with the intake.

Nope, you don't need it. I haven't had any problems yet.
