Talking PUSH BUTTON STARTER!!

a few days ago i was at my neighborhood performance shop. this place is like a hang out and i am always happy to pay my asian friends a visit.....they always great me with wide eye and smile....well i went with my friend who has a CRX, ,that he recently just put a new motor in.....i rarely leave this place with out droppin at least 50 bucks, i deem it totally necessary to buy something....anything!!!!...he walked me over to these push button starters he had just gotten from that good ol performance ridden country TAIWAN...he immediately informs me hte utter urgency of this purchase... "I just get yesterday, you first one buy!!!"..i am an easy sell.....it was was 69.99, and i had a friend put it in......my asian friend that works on cars, what an asset!!! I wanted it mounted on the left side, like in the S2000...but he refused to drill a hole in the wood...we settled on the center console, like near the shifter....its awesome!!...installs in no time...has a cool ass bright light that comes on as soon as you push the button and stays on.........just push the button and VRRRRROOOOOOMM!!!!!!!...the girgle of the exhaust fills my ear....

Question

Does the key still need to be in the ignition? Cuz that'd suck if you forgot to lock the doors to your car, and someone waltzes in and turns and the engine and drives off....

i found that about a year ago. it was blue and look kinda nasty. I was still thinking about it but couldn't find a good place to mount it. the s2k also has a chrome finish around the edges which makes it embellished. where did u put yours exactly and what color is it? they also said install would be expensive.

Anyone know how much the actual S2000 button is from the dealer?

It's supposed to be a really easy install job. My cousin, an amatuer electronics buff said that he can easily put one in.

I'm pretty sure the key still has to be in the ignition for you to start the car with the button.

Sorry guys, just had to do it.
Actually, on the S2K, the ignition key switch only has two positions, "off-on". In order to install a push button start for the TL, you'd have to cut the wires going from the switch to the starter, and route it to the new switch. Since its just a relayed switch anyways, the install wiring should be pretty straightforward. As for WHERE to install the new button, I'd be careful as if you put it in the center console, an accidental push while driving WILL grind the starter. Heck, I'd almost want to put it by where the fog switch goes, but cutting would be required.

i dunno if this works the same as my autostart, but i just got my Viper ESP 500 installed by my friend. he used one of my valet keys with the system so that the car would start by pushing the fob buttons. in order for the car to actually go, you have to place your key in the "on" position or else you can't go. because as soon as you step on the brake to shift, the autostart shuts off.

btw, i love the way my car is warmed up before i even step inside.

According to the ignition diagram i have, power comes through the white cable, which comes directly from the battery with a fuse. the black/white striped wire is the wire i'm supposed to tap for the ignition. I already tried this combination, but it didnt work out. anyone have any ideas?

Did you have the key in the ignition? Doesn't the immobilizer need to be nearby for the car to start?
