Damn, never thought it would happen to me.
Lets start with the weather. It was cloudy and kinda of drizzle. For those who have tint, you know what cloudy sky do to your window. It makes it alot darker than your tint really is. And especailly with the reflective type tint.
I was on the left lane and then there was a cop behind me and so I switch to the middle lane and let him pass, nothing really to be excited about. Every car in the left lane switch to the middle to let him pass. Then for some reason, this dumbass truck driver pulled over to the left lane shoulder That created a big mess. Car was struggling to stop and at this time, I was on the left lane agian. I switched to the middle and pass the cop. The cop finnally got the dumbass truck driver to move. He passed me agian and suddenly he slowed down his speed. I was like shit....wtf he's doing? He slowed down so much(about 40mph) that I had to pass him. Finally he got behind me and flick the lights on.
Officer: "I pulled you over for two reasons. 1) thats a mirror tint which is illegal. 2) you have a cover on your liscense plate which is also illegal."
Me: " The tint is a reflective type and is perfectly legal"
Officer: "Roll up your windo, and let me take a look at it agian"
Me: "okay" rolled up the window
Officer: "Nope, that a mirror tint which is illegal. Can I see your registration....blah blah blah."
At this point, I didnt want to argue with him anymore. I just gave him the my liscense and my registration and hopefully I can fight it in court.
I have the receipt from which I tinted my windows. I cannot belive it but it was from 11/2002 and I still have the reciept in my wallet. I'm gonna take a picture of my tint on a sunnyday and a picture on a cloudy day and show it to the judge.
Does this ever happen to anybody? What's my chance of succeeding?

 

what percent do you have all the way around. tomorrow morning i'm getting 5% on the back window and 15% on the sides with a 5% brow across the front.

what are tickets for something like this anyway?

 

mine is 35% all around. Thats the state limit here. But on a cloudy sky, with black interior it looks alot darker than that.
$250 for tint.

i was wondering how much the ticket/fine is on something like that though. i would guess between $200-300.

damn, yall paid alot for tint. I have Limo on back window and back 2 doors. and 15% on the front two doors. all for $95 cash

 

In NY I once paid a $35 fine for 20% all round on my previous car an 00 Honda Accord. Have 20% all round now on my 04 TL and have never been pulled over (knock on wood) in it. I always roll my front windows down when near any member of law enforcement. Trust me it sucks when its 20 degrees in Roc, NY.

 

I totally forgot about that.

i duno how u guys with 5% on the rear window back up.. i have limo on my sides and 20% on the back and i can barely see out my windows when i turn.

 

Put on your best coat and tie, get a fresh hair cut, shave, take the receipt and hope that dang judge is not as much of an ass hole as the cop. And remove the license cover, take a pic to court showing it was removed and have that ready to show the judge if he mentions it (see any note on your ticket about the license cover???). Good luck dude.

I got pulled over for window tint, i knew it was illegal because it is 5% all the way around. It happened in some small town hickville in texas.. He had a laser gun or something that measured the tint. My fine is $225, still havent paid it...

damn tint fine in nj is like 50 and change.

i got pulled over once. 2am only one of 2 cars on the road.

I got pulled over for my window tint also. I have 20% all around and the cop was going the opposite direction and he made a u turn and put the damn strobe lights on. I pulled over and I asked him why he pulled me over and he paused for a min(like he didn't have a reason for pulling me over) then he said your windows(mind you my car is registered in R.I. and I was in NY). He asked me to put my window up half way and he put the black box on my windows and it registered 12% and he did the same for the pass side and wrote me a ticket for $90.00 per window. I'm gonna fight it though. I'm gonna take a pic of the car on a sunny day and show the judge and hopefully he will dismiss my ticket.

 

Fine for tint in CA is $10. And removal of tint

I know in Jersey you can't have your front 3 windows tinted or it's a ticket so to me there is no point in tinting my windows at all. I think with the pictures you may have a case with the judge but I would check your states tint laws before hand.

Anyone have a mirror tint picture? He wrote down "mirrorized tint" on my ticket which is not my kind of tint. He didnt even measure the tint before he give me the ticket.
I can use this in court.

 

i really thought if your out of state they really can't do any thing to you?

that kinda sucks.

if i see a cop ahead i usually open the sun roof and lower the windows. makes it look less dark.

i have PA registration and i was pulled over in NY for tint, after the cop checked the tint level she told me it was below the NY state law so i told her i was from PA so she told me that windsheild tint is illigal. i told her i didnt have any (wich i didnt) so she told me to have a nice day!
i dont know how u got a ticket in a different state.
