Question PROS PLEASE HELP: Brake light and Spoiler light

Hi, all the pros out there. Please help me with this question:

After they changed the "polytech" spoiler to the lovely ACURA spoiler, my middle brake light is no longer operating. ^_^ (the one on the woofer thing)

I called them, they say that it's suppose to be like that coz the Acura Main factory had this rule about disable the middle light if a factory spoiler is added on. TangoLima99 also said the same thing.

Is it true though? All u pros out there who got a factory spoiler, does ur middle light still work? or it is also disabled?

If this case is true, then i guess it's pretty easy to see if u had a acura spoiler or a aftermarket one, just step on the brake and see if the middle light lights up!!

hehe... Alright pros!! Thanx in advance.

RiCeBoy (Got rice huh??)

This is true because this is my 3rd car with factory spoiler. My 90 Accord had factory spoiler added by dealer back in 90 & they disconected the rear brake light.I questioned the dealer about it they said something to do with fuse or something. Then on my 94 Acoord the spoiler was added at time of delivery also 3rd brake light was un hooked. My TL has factory spoiler and it was put on at time of delivery. The 3rd brake light is unhooked also.If you look at most cars with the spoiler the inside brake light is out.Somepeople do have both on but they may be aftermarket & not put on by dealerships. I think it may be the fuse thing like Honda told me back in 90.

I believe the main reason they do it is because the connector for the third brake light is now plugged into the spoiler's connector. If you wanted both, you'd have to splice in another connector so both lights can be powered.

Wink

Wow~~ Thanks for all these replies people.
when i had the aftermarket spoiler on (installed by dealer, and they told me it was the real ACURA! yeh.. sure), my brake light n spoiler light both worked. Now i guess the aftermarket one had some kind of spliter there huh.. hehehe But still.. ACURA spoiler is way better than the one i had (polytech!?!) it's real fiber glass or whatever material! The old one i had was so soft.. u press on it u'll dent it, and paint will come off by itself.

Well.. Thanx people. I wish one day i'll know as much as u all about cars. I wanna be the

Thanks Riceboy, I appreciate that greatly! And yes, the 3rd brake light connector is now plugged into the spoiler brake light. Some places it is illegal to have both on at the same time...I don't recall where off the top of my head though. Ridiculous as it sounds, it is true in some states.

I think it would look better with both of them on.

That might be what my Honda service maneger told me back in 90 about my Accord spoiler.
