Problem with stock Stereo
Problem with stock Stereo
I have a 00 tl with a stock stereo. the thing is that it doesnt want to play burned discs. i was wondering if any one else has a problem like this or if any one knows a way to fix it because i would like to avoid buying a new headunit if possible.

I've had problems with CD-Rs until I used brand name CDs and burned them on the slowest speed possible. I've heard others even found a use for obsolete CD Writers since they can burn at 2X/ 4X.
yea some cds ive made are for the most part good but then others just suck it will take like 5 min just to get to the first song. i prob. will just buy a new head unit but i got to wait cuz moneys tight right now.
Well, I use to burn with Taiyo Yuden Discs as they are considered the best branded makers of CD-R's and they worked pretty well. I decided to get myself a direct line in for my ipod. I'm glad I bought the USASPEC as it was a great investment.

i figure since the car was designed in 98 they didnt really have the technology that reads all different types of cds so that must be why the unit doesnt read them well. mine sucks donkey balls so im planning to swap it out and have my audio guy do the custom face plate

eh, forget that
Just buy the blitzsafe and start using your mp3 player to listen to music
eh i just was at best buy and for 400 i can get a nice hu that plays dvds and i can hook my old ps2 up to. so im gonna wait couple weeks and just buy that. my money problems have been solved so im good.

No matter what speed i tried it didnt help. you can try playing around but in the end it would be cheaper and easier to just get a HU that works (02-03 oem or aftermarket)

don't know if it will work
I have a 2000 tl and want to swap to a 6 cd 02-03 HU. I was told that it would not swap over. What do you guys think? will it, and if it does, is there any wire swaping to do?
thanks

it'll work...i have a '00 also and swapped it out. Just make sure that it is from TL and not a CL; they look identical but CL's is incompatible with the TL. No wires needed...just plug and play (if i remember...i did it a long time ago).
However, to save you money and trouble, do NOT swap. Just get the blitzsafe and hardwire your mp3 player. If you do that, you will NEVER, EVER play CD's again. Once i hooked up a blitzsafe, I havent played a CD since...and that was 3 years ago.

yes, they do...do a search, there are tons of threads on this.
