Problem with stock Stereo

I have a 00 tl with a stock stereo. the thing is that it doesnt want to play burned discs. i was wondering if any one else has a problem like this or if any one knows a way to fix it because i would like to avoid buying a new headunit if possible.

It's a common problem with the stereos in these cars. I've managed to find a solution that works for me. I've bought several different types of CDR's such as HP, Maxell, Verbatim, Sony, etc. The ones that seem to work are the Imation CDR's on a slower burn speed such as 32X. I'm using Nero to burn CD's. I haven't tried it with other software but I think it should still work. Good luck!!

Well since you don't want a after market headunit which is the best way for this soulton to get a interferance adapter for your Mp3 player.

Yup I use a cassette adapter with my Zen player. I don't know what happened but my CD player does not work at all. It won't kick out cd's or change, it just says "err" after about two mounths it did kick out the three cd's that were in there but I won't use it again.

I've had problems with CD-Rs until I used brand name CDs and burned them on the slowest speed possible. I've heard others even found a use for obsolete CD Writers since they can burn at 2X/ 4X.

Well, I use to burn with Taiyo Yuden Discs as they are considered the best branded makers of CD-R's and they worked pretty well. I decided to get myself a direct line in for my ipod. I'm glad I bought the USASPEC as it was a great investment.

For most it it doesnt matter. try different speeds and brands, imations were teh only ones that would work with my 2000 but that didnt last long and eventually they didnt work. No matter what speed i tried it didnt help. you can try playing around but in the end it would be cheaper and easier to just get a HU that works (02-03 oem or aftermarket)

i figure since the car was designed in 98 they didnt really have the technology that reads all different types of cds so that must be why the unit doesnt read them well. mine sucks donkey balls so im planning to swap it out and have my audio guy do the custom face plate

sony cd's have been working flawlessly for me for over 2 years now. It reads like an original cd.

don't know if it will work

I have a 2000 tl and want to swap to a 6 cd 02-03 HU. I was told that it would not swap over. What do you guys think? will it, and if it does, is there any wire swaping to do?

thanks
jason

it'll work...i have a '00 also and swapped it out. Just make sure that it is from TL and not a CL; they look identical but CL's is incompatible with the TL. No wires needed...just plug and play (if i remember...i did it a long time ago).

However, to save you money and trouble, do NOT swap. Just get the blitzsafe and hardwire your mp3 player. If you do that, you will NEVER, EVER play CD's again. Once i hooked up a blitzsafe, I havent played a CD since...and that was 3 years ago.
