Question Is this a problem?????

Hi,

Just got a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL with 72k miles on it.
I noticed last night, while I had my dome light on in the inside of the car, when I rev up the engine it would dim.

Is this normal or does it sound like I have an electrical problem?

Thanks

No. I think only the dome light dims.
But it dims a lot...very noticeable.
My other cars (MDX, Nissan Max) don't do that.

Sometimes, I notice my gauge light gets dimmer when A/C compressor kicks in.

Nicksan, I guess the bigger question is, why do you have to rev up the engine? I have had my TL for almost two years and have never had to rev the engine even in the coldest weather.

If you acutally read his and my post, he wrote that it dims when he revs UP his engine, which usually what people do when they first start the car to warm the engine UP! Revving the engine is completely different!

Hi all,

Sorry for the confusion about this.
What I meant about "rev" is after I start the car when I press on the accelerator for whatever reason, be it to warm the engine up, or to plain make some noise.

When I do this, and have the front dome lights on (by the sunglass holder) the lights do noticeably dim in pattern with the "rev". As for when starting the car, I would have to check that, but I would have to say that it probably dims it as well. I'm not concerned about that since the car is being started.

I have not tried during driving. I'll do that when I get a chance.

I just asked this question because I found it odd since my other cars don't do that. I would have noticed if they did.

Thanks
Nick
