There has to be a reason that this is so inexpensive.

Thoughts?

aem and injen cai are expensive because they are carb legal. the one you post is not carb legal. all a cai is a long metal tube with a filter at the end nothing super fancy. except the aem v2 which is a bit different from the usual cai.

Awesome thanks! So all in all will it actually fit? I really want one for a noise and look, I am not really looking for performance gains. Like I said in other posts, this car was given to me and it is just a mess around fun car. It it were to explode tomorrow, I really wouldn't care. Thanks!

you can go to home depot and autozone and make your own for that price or cheaper with a little ingenuity. plus plastic or rubber is less heat absorbant. or another thing i have thought about for my tl is open up the air box so it more free flowing with out all the baffles and things, get a k&n, and create away for a ram air setup behind the bumper. need to take a closer look at what is behind there and what would it take to do that but non the less, its a thought

Are you talking exhaust?

I always read to keep the resonator and loose the mid muffler.

Thanks!

yes, depending on what year your car is, you'll have one or two intake resonators. If you take out the lower resonator that is under the air filter, it'll give the engine some bark when you step on the throttle.

well I ordered and received the item that was in the link in my first post. for the money the cai isn't all that bad as far as materials. But the directions are very lacking which leaves me with questions.

1. When installed, is the filter sposed to be down into the fender well? I really can't see it going any where else when assembled.

2. one the cai, near where it connects to the throttle body, there are 2 "ports" on each side of the tube. the port on the fire wall side is fine and the hose reconnects like on the old system. But the port on the front side, is not an open port. there is a nipple, but it is not drilled all the way thru so it is open, should it be? And how do I get that line to reconnect? or is that where all that extra tubing I got is for?

Thanks so much!

1. Yes, the filter will hang behind the bumper where the resonator is currently, so that will need to be removed if not done so already.

2. Can't remember since it has been a long time, but the hose that connects to the front side or lower port should be replaced with the extra hose that was supplied.

looks like I will have to finish drilling out the second port. I guess for $60 it is not bad.....

I was wrong, the second port did not need to be drilled out. Put the entire cai kit in and am glad to say that it all fits well and looks good. I can here it breathing at idle and has a bit of a whine during acceleration.
