pricing / vendors for CAIs? Installation issues?

I'm looking for some direction from some of you guys who have already purchased CAIs.
What price range is a good range?
What are some websites with these good prices?

Now, whether you bought the Injen, AEM, or Comptech, were there any issues with the kit? Tubing or hose issues? Fitment issues?

Since the install, any maintenance issues or noises that shouldn't be there?

any info would be appreciated.

thanks

good site fair pricing fast shipping

http://www.autocarparts.com/cars/Acu...L/Intakes/ALL/

No issues with any of them, and no maint issues. The comptech will be easier to clean the filter, but will be a quieter CAI system than the others

ok, i bought the INJEN RD1660 Cold Air Intake. It is one long pipe, not two pieces. I bought it from the vendor EXCELERATE on this forum for $225 shipped, and i live in south florida. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING YOUR CAI FROM EXCELERATE AS WELL AS OTHER PRODUCTS. Hes very very EXCELLENT when it comes to business. Quick, Fast Shipping, and Reputable. He does have the best prices for majority of things.

On the other hand, www.autocarparts.com sells the same INJEN RD1660 Cold Air Intake which is the same one i bought for $246.18 shipped. If you ask me, thats like 20 bucks more you pay and i dont think you will find a better deal then from buying from EXCELERATE

I have a 99TL-p and i didnt have any problems with installing it. Everything fit like it should. Later.

The only issue with installing the Icebox - the damn screws took me ten mins. to get them to line up - love the fact cleaning the filter can be easily done without the need to remove the bumper (not that is hard though). I would agree with dvsxlt247 I got mine from Excelerate $225 for the Icebox (plus 3% paypal) hard to find a better price - install instructions included and easy to follow.

CAI - tend to run $150 up to $250 depending on what you want.
AEM and V2, Icebox (no need for a bypass valve), Injen, adding a bypass valve also increases your cost. There are some cheapy ones on ebay - but you get what you pay for. Debates regarding material used and where to buy you'll have to do your own research - relatively all CAI installs are the same...Most require you remove the front bumper - but some have done this without...

I second that, DONT BY A BYPASS VALVE. YOU WONT GET WATER IN YOUR ENGINE UNLESS YOU SUBMERGE THE INTAKE IN WATER COMPLETELY. If you do worry though in rain, dont worry too much. Regular driving in rain wont cause water to get sucked up in there. Just dont go flying fast through deep ass puddles or anything.

nah, bypass valves are for wimps, i've been driving cars with CAIs for the past 6 years, no probs with that, I don't plan on doing any fishing in it.

Thanks all for your input, does anyone have any quick tips for getting the bumper off? I've never actually done that, but I think i'd like to try, i usually just take out the fender well, but it's still a pain in the ass.

Thanks all!

Here's a good tip. GROMMETS ARE A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS. I'm talking about the ones under the car that go through the plastic lining and through a metal hole! Getting those shits out suck, especially when one or two break on you while trying to remove it.
