Talking Price on manual?

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around the forum for a couple weeks and I'd just like to thank everyone for making my decision on what car to buy next very easy. Unfortunately, I have a little wait ahead of me, but I guess it will make it that much sweeter when the keys are finally in my hand. My only reservation about the TLS was the lack of a manual transmission, and if Motor Trend is correct, in just over a year my ride will be here. It worked out perfectly, because I wouldn't be able to afford a new car anyway until then.

I know the answer will be complete speculation, but what price drop, if any, can be expected on the 6-speed model when it comes out? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've gotten the feeling that a lot of people on this board have an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude about the manual. Is this justified? Why would Acura put the manual in the CL and not the TL?

The CL is a sports coupe while the TL is a sporty sedan. Of course they are going to put the 6 speed manual in the coupe first....

Wink

Of course they will put it on the TL type S, is all a matter of time.

The people that say well CL is a coupe and TL is a sedan, why does the TL have a Type S version. If they both have a type S version, WTF wouldn't both have manual tranny. Ok is true that is coming out first for the TL that is because they tested on the very ugly CL and then if they find any flaws they fixed them and then the put it on the TL....I love that explanation .

The Honda Accord two door has been out for a number of years and NO manual transmission. It will be interesting to see what Honda/Acura will do?
Remember the Legend two door has a manual for a little bit.

Just read in the car mag that CLS gets it, then TLS gets it fall of 2002.. "Acura Confirms 6-speed in TL-S late 2002" .. that makes it right in line with the 5 year model rotation. And the CLS came out first.. like whoever said above, put it in the sporty coupe first.

Granted, traditionally the Luxury and Near Luxury has a small market for Manual, only the sport lovers who want a nice sedan will get it.

I for one, was just about to get a TL-S, and will now be waiting till next year.

and it would be sweet to see a 5 or 6 speed in the Accord v-6. I wanted stick at the time in 98 when i got the 4cyl accord Vs. the 6. And I still love it.. I bought the TL for it's automatic due to Atlanta traffic.

i too am waiting for the 6sp acura tl-type s but will expect to pay the same as an automagic...
most cars that aren't econoboxes (the 2002 maxima for instance) will offer the manual shift as a "no cost option" see pricing details on new max
auto and manual SE are same base price.
just my two cents
