Angry Power Window Problem

I have a problem but this applies to my 2000 Accord SE. Back in June of this year, I noticed that my rear right power window didn't work anymore because the window would only open a little and stop and it took me forever to close it by messing with the On and Off power windows switch. I took it to the dealer and they did some electrical test and found that the right rear control switch is at fault and replaced it with a new one under warranty. It did work but the thing is that I normally don't have passengers sitting in the rear of my car so the rear power windows doesn't get used much. Just yesterday the same thing happened again because my friends were in the back seat and they opened the right rear window and it only opened a little and stopped and it took me forever to close it by pressing the On and Off power window switch back and forth repeatedly. Also, the window would even stop when I am trying to close it. My warranty expired August of this year and I have an appointment set up for this Monday. I asked the service advisor if this would still be covered under warranty because it's not my fault if they didn't get it fixed right the first time and it is within a year since the repair. He told me that if the switch that they replaced back in June is defective, then it would be free of charge. But he said since he doesn't know what the problem is now, I should bring the car in on Monday and discuss the warranty issue then. Do you guys think the dealer will fix the problem again for free? Any of you car wizards out there have an idea what the problem might be? I'm sure it's not the window switch.

Sounds like the window regulator to me, not the switch.

Do you have driver control of the rear windows? Can you lower/raise it from the driver seat w/o problems?

I would check the Accord forums as well as check for recalls as well.

I've had window motors themselves go bad (the brushes in the motors don't last forever), but that takes years and years of regular use.

I have driver control for the rear windows and I am still unable to lower/raise the rear windows. I checked OwnerLink and there are no recalls for my car. I am surprised there is already a problem since my car is only 3 years old (27,000 miles) and is made in Japan. But I noticed that my car has tighter exterior panel gaps and better quality of plastics than my neighbor's EX model Accord as we have the same generation and color.

I thought all North American 1998 + Accords were made @ the Ohio plant. I am quite sure my 1998 EXV6 is made in Ohio. My 1992 Accord However was made in Japan. Great car that was.

Only DX, LX, and EX are assembled at the Ohio Plant. The Special Edition is assembled in Japan. On the sticker, it says that the final assembly point is Sayama, Saitama, Japan for my car. My car's engine and transmission are from Japan which makes up 25% of the parts content and the rest is U.S parts content. My Accord materials and build quality is noticeably better than my '03 TL-P.

I think the fit and finish of my Accord is better than my TL as well. So what does Honda do, ship the parts to Japan for assembly? Seems like an expensive way to do things.

This is what happened. I went to the dealership this morning (10am) and I had a feeling that when I bring it into the dealership for the service advisor to see, it would work. Sure enough, the damn window worked. I just told the service advisor that it only works sometimes. The car was promised at 2:00pm but it wasn't ready until 4:00pm and I had an appointment for 10am. I bet they started looking at my car at 3:30pm. Quality customer service eh? Btw, this is at Honda of Serramonte. Anyways, the service advisor told me that the immobilizer system on the right rear door falls asleep sometimes which caused the right rear window not to function. He told me all they could do was reset the immobilizer system free of charge. I was thinking in my mind that it was a total BS what they did because I doubt they fixed anything. I tested the window out before I left the dealership and it worked and I tested it while I was driving home and again when I arrived home and it works fine, for now...
