Hi -I'm new on the TL bbs.
In the coming months(Sept.-Oct.) I'll be looking to acquire a 02 TL-S. I'm curious as to what type of prices your local dealership has been listing the car for?
Thanks in advance~
PS- Keepin my baby Max so pls don't slam on me.

The answer to your question doesn't really matter. You should be able to acquire a car from a reputable dealer for between 3-4% over invoice. Always work from dealer cost UP, not MSRP or dealer price down.

The best place to purchase a new Acrua is at South Coast Acura in Costa Mesa California. Talk to John Hyuhn and tell him you wnat a good deal. I bought my 2002 white with ebony interior TL Type S with Navigation for $31,000. Out the door with taxes and docs it was $33,300. This is the best deal you can get I promise you. They even threw in the mud flaps and wheel locks with the whole deal.

dealers in northern jersey
Gurl,
Welcome to the family.. I bought by TL-S in northern NJ at Wayne Acura and paid 31,200 with navi. There <u>are</u> good deals on the east coast, although they seem easier to get out west. Send me a PM if you would like the details.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the TL-S. I got mine, in Roanoke, VA, for $31000 w/ spoiler, splash guards, wheel locks, and trunk tray, no navi. If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten all the accessories from this web-site and saved myself about $1000 off what I paid.

SoCal prices
About a month ago, people were posting prices for TL-S w Navi @ the 30,700 level.
As of this week, I haven't been able to find a dealer that will hit that level. Looks like word is getting around and the car is moving.
Best I could get a dealer to say was 31,400 (but that included locks and guards). I'm surprised that the normally aggressive John @South Coast and Mitch @Cerritos won't give me a call back. Busy moving them I guess.
Good luck.

I bought mine from Springfield Acura-$30,200 with the wood steering wheel and wheel locks. At the end of the month you can get one for $29,000 without Nav. I heard the guy next to me get that deal when I picked mine up. Now I would never buy another car from this dealership because they are complete idiots there. I'm serious when I tell you I'm sorry I got my car there because the dealership feels so slick, but they are 2 miles from my house. But for a good deal you may want to try them but be prepared to walk into a dealership that feels like they are selling Used Honda's.

i got a question guys n girls......when u guys got ur deals on the tls at a range of 29k-31k....what were ur credit ratings excellent, good, fair, bad......and how much did u guys put down....and did ur credit rating and how much u put down affect the price of the car....meaning were the dealers more willing to work with you if you put a big down payment? and at what interest rate did they give you? do you guys recommend going through a credit union vs. dealer financing ? this is my first vehicle purchase, i decided on buying a car after my 2000 GSXR got stolen over memorial day weekend. this is a great forum i must say, alot of interesting info.

Dunno yet which bank is gonna finance my TL-S (I decided to be at the mercy of the dealer trying to find someone to finance my car). My credit union won't (I'm pretty sure--didn't actually try, won't bother with the reasons as to why) finance me because I already have another auto loan taken out through them.
In any case, my credit rating was between good and fair (too much revolving debt) so I couldn't get as good a rate as I would like, even with a 710+ FICO score and $7500 down. Maybe I'll refinance after a year...
If you have pretty good credit, better to secure your own financing. Financing for shorter term length combined with excellent credit will most likely get you lower rates.
As people say, YMMV...

Bradshaw Acura in Greenville SC is making deals on the TLS at $1300 under sticker($31710 non nav) The big thing with them is selection. They have all colors in both nav and non nav-and at least two of each. As others have said work up from dealer cost-don't let them dictate negotiations-let them know that there are other dealers out there !!!!!!!!!! and that you will walk!!!

John Huynh at South Coast Acura is a fool. He know nothing about the cars he is selling. He is also a very abrasive salesman. However, I did buy my TL-S from him, because his price was so low, $29,200 w/o nav.

comments about salesmen
I'm not going to comment on attributes of the various salesmen. Clearly each has a different set of pros/cons.
I was just posting prices that they can do. Good price on the TL-S w/o navi (at navi cost of 1400, that would be roughly 30,600 for TL-S w navi).
I just did a review of some of the dealer inventories in SoCal and there are many more TL-S w/o navi than there are with navi. Could be you negotiated hard and/or they are also pushing the non-navi as the navi seem to be taking care of themselves recently.

Got my TL-S non Navi from Nally Acura in Atlanta for $29,300.
I added rear spoiler $600, wheel locks $35, splash guards $45, trunk tray $45, plus there was a $289 doc fee. My total total price was $30,300 before tag and taxes.
Angela Garland was my salesperson. Real easy to work with.

I would love a Nav too!
But it was out of my budget. I was lamenting that fact while trying to negotiate DC traffic and simultaneously read a map this past weekend.
Anyway I paid $30,300 in Raleigh, NC area for mine w/o Nav, including destination on April 25. Although happy with the deal and the car it seems I could have haggled a bit more. It seems that it was too easy.
That same dealer was one of those "MSRP or bust" types and they were actually willing to take what I offered up front, $31,500 OTD (NC auto tax is only 3%).

I've used American Car Buying service as a negotiation tool in the past and it works really well.
Go to their web site http://www.acscorp.com/ and signup for the Buyer's Agent service. If it is a domestic car, they'll order it straight from the factory for you so you pay dealer COST (not dealer invoice) plus their $399 fee. But an Acura is not domestic so....
If it is foreign, they'll contact the largest (Acura) dealers in the country that sell the highest volume and get their lowest price from their Fleet manager. The prices include all reabates, dealer holdbacks, incentives, etc., and are listed separately on the price quote so they basically end up doing all the research and contacting all the dealers for you and have much more negotiating power than any one individual. The cost is only $75. You only pay the balance of the $399 if they go purchase through them. If you do pruchase through them, the car just gets transferred to your local dealer for pickup.
I then take their price quote to my local dealer and ask them to beat the quote buy $100. (I guarantee if you don't show them the quote, their own quote will not match or beat it.) If they can't beat or match the quote, then I go through ACS. If the dealer has the car you want on the lot and you can't wait, then you can probably negotiate a price for just a couple hundred more.
I always do a lot of research when making big purchases. The bottom line is that for $75, this service takes A LOT of the guess work and research work out the process for you because you know you shouldn't be paying anything more than what you can get through this service. Most importantly, it virtually eliminates haggling on the purchase price.
When I get closer to purchasing my car this fall, I'll post my quote unless someone else uses this service earlier.
