Is it possible to replace 4spd with 5 spd?

Hey guys,

I recently got into a car accident in which my 2001 TL was written off. However, I really love this car and besides the tranny was recently replaced and only has 70km on it and it was running beautifully!
Since I love the car so much I was thinking of buying another one but because I need a car urgently I don't have time to search for 'best deal out there'. I found a 99 TL (4spd) with a rebuilt tranny (don't know how many km's on it) and it is in good condition at a half decent price.
Basically my question for you guys is: can you replace the 4spd in the 99 with the newer 5spd tranny (2000+) and if you can is it just a simple tranny swap or is there more work involved? In other words, would it be worth doing? The reason I ask is because I was thinking of buying back my car from the Insurance Company and securing the tranny in case something goes wrong with the one in the car I'm buying.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks guys.

not for cheap thats for sure- wrong ECU thinks there is only 4 speeds
shifter gate made for 4
yadayada

if they will sell you the car for 500 and you can remove the trans yourself- sell for 1500 to a ziner,,,
otherwise, paying someone to remove it eats up your profit!
dont forget shipping cost~

if you paid for the trans, the insurance can add that to the value of the car for your ck
