please read! PICS!

As I arrived at my parents house today, my dad noticed a big red scratch and another scratch below it on my TL's fender. I haven't hit anything, so obviously someone in a red car who couldn't park hit my TL and drove off. Please tell me how I can get these scratches and the red paint from the other person's car off and where I can get the products I need from...I did a search and I found this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=scratches , but I have no idea where to buy some of those products or how to use them I don't have enough money right now to even think about getting it painted or professionally done.

Let me know what you think!

Looks like its just some scuff marks. I had some before... try different products... try some non-harsh products first like clay bar .. scratchX... but if that doesnt work try some harsher ones.... i had to use lipstick/nail polish remover to get paint off my bumper once. Just remember to wax it well after using harsh products

thanks so much guys...so I guess I should use the claybar before the scratch-x? I read some of the posts in the wash and wax section, and scratch X doesn't fix the scratch but temporarily fills it in. So should I cover the scratch X with a coat or two of wax and watch for it to start wearing off? And if the scratch-X doesn't work then I should bring the TL to a detailer?

I hate when this crap happens I just got the hood/bumper and a door painted not even a month ago and the people at school who can't park their POS cars hit mine twice already. I'm about to just buy a POS car to drive to school and save the TL for other times

Clay bar first, then Scratch-X. Scratch-X does have some abrasives in it, but from my experience you have to use a bit of elbow grease to really make it work well. After using any polish, rubbing compound or scratch remover, you should always reapply wax or sealant to the affected area.

If the Scratch-X doesn't work there are still other options that you can try, such as different products and getting into machines, but your best bet would be to take to a professional detailer who can assess the damage and a) tell you if it's repairable (if the scratches are too deep you'll have to use touch-up paint) and b) go to work on it.

Good luck!

Thanks so much guys! I used the clay bar today and it worked great Everythings gone except some minor scratches. I ended up cleaning the whole car with it and ended up running out of daylight. Looks like I'll have to use the scratch-x and wax tomorow.

THANKS!

Yeah you definitely want to wax the car ASAP after using the claybar on the entire car. The claybar is great at removing lots of crap off of your car, but it also will strip wax along with it.

Glad to hear the paint came out! Good luck with the waxing.
