Wow, those really stick out. Not my cup of tea, I would have gone with oval or round to match the shape of the opening. Props for trying though.

YEs they do stick out a bit, but believe me it pays off, and they dont look cheap in no way or else i wouldnt ve done the mod myself. I have seen some Tlz with some aftermarket fogs, and believe me i have yet to see one that even looks half as good as these ones, on or off. i will post some pix with these on soon.

i had a problem with my Alpine 7897 face hitting the dash when it would go into place. (it has the same face as yours with a color display and an internal amp). did you have this problem? i used the metra kit and ended up putting little plastic spacers behind the deck cage to keep it out about 1/4 of an inch. lemme know if you want to see what i'm talking about in a pic.

No i didnt, i did all the installation myself, and used metra kit, had to paint it to match the interior color thou. This face plate is different than urs, it slides all the way back into the head unit ( phantom face plate), may be thats y i m not having that same problem. I will try to post a picture of the head unit with the faceplate closed all the way in.

no, mine is the same faceplate with a color display. the oversized phantom face. go on ebay and check it out. there is always a few up for auction. i just happened to have a problem with the face hitting the metra kit when it would go into operation position for some reason. my friend has the same unit you have and he had the problem too when he put it in his TL, but this was also in mid 02 when the metra kid hadn't come out yet if i recall. i'll try and post a pic, although i don't have a host currently. lemme see what i can do.

OK, here is the deck you have (obviously you know this allready but this is just for everyone else's gratification):

this is the one i have:

the main differences being mine has an internal amp (50x4) and a color display. and yours has a calendar and a few extra display options. mine has basically the same features though. cell phone link, user eq, graphic equalizer etc. i'm really happy with it. i liked the black & white display but i did not have the patience to run new speaker wires for an aftermarket amp.

Ya thats the main differance, yours is color coz it uses Dot matrix display LEDs and mine uses what alpine calls Bio light display, anyways, As far as hitting the dash goes, that something that can only b fixed if i see it or if i take the head unit out and see what sort of support you are using, to support and fix the head unit in the metra kit, take it to the local tweeter or best buy and see if they can sort it out for you, sorry man cant help you like this, looking at the pic wont help, coz the problem is behind the dash. Make sure you are using the tabs that come with the kit. And ya i know how that whole running new wire goes, but the results are remarkable specially the combination that i m using, the kenwood Excelon components really make ur ears hurt if you crank the volume up and i have yet to hear any desortion. Anyways ya i m thinkin about lowering the car, usually i do all the mods myself and the susupension will be done all at the same time, new springs shox camber kit and all the goodies :-D. I have a hook up in japan, this dude imports Imprezas (old and new) and skyline GTRz to the UK, i had him look for a body kit for Honda Inspire, lets see what he comes up with, he did mention that theres one made my some , wierd named, japanese company but i have yet to see pix before i can make my decision. As soon as i get any pix i will post it here as well.

well i had fixed the problem and i didn't know if you were having the same problem so if you were i would send you pics of what i did. but seems like it worked out good for you

and there is only one stereo installer i will go to. a guy in connecticut i know who only does high end cars (corvettes, porsches, bmw's, etc). he sometimes costs a little more. buti had a friend who used to work at circuit city back in college and he told me all sorts of stories about what they did to cars when they were working on the stereos. not pretty.

I did put the installation instructions on a thread earlier but here are they again

1) Take the bumper off by taking out all the plastic tabs and two screws on each corner and one bolt on either under side of the bumper)
2) Shave the black openings in the bumper ( the ones in either corner)
3)Take only the black part out for now in the openings.
4) Put the lights on and mark them where they will go on.
5) Figure out how much metal you have to get out of the way, you can either bend it or cut it out of the way, i took a hammer and bent it out of the way.
6) Put the lights on and mark the two holes that you have to drill in the bumper support bar , to bolt the lights on.
7) the bracket that comes with the kit is a little too small so you need to get longer bolts and put thick washers in between the bracket and the support bar so that the lights are lowered a lil bit.
8) Put the bumper back on, and see how much more you have to shave out of the way, and mark it.
9) its about another 3/8 of an inch on wither side and the upper part of the opening that you have to shave out.
10) Then put it back on and see if you need to make any other adjustments.
11) wire the system.
12) Put the wireless module behind the drivers side strut in the small opening, and tie it down with a provided wire tie. Run the thick wire with the lom on it to the battery, hook the -ve and +ve cables on. run the right wire to the Ballast along the headlight down to the fog light, run the other one along the front behind the bumper support bar and infront of the radiator to the other side.
13) Take the support bolt (on the right ) from the windshield washer fluid bottle and sneek the ballast bracket underneath it and bold it back on it will hold the ballast in place, on the other side you have to do the same but use the air cleaner boxes bolts. You can find another location if you dont think that these are good locations for the ballasts, the ballasts are sealed so splashing water wont do anything to them, just make sure that u dont try it by dumping them in a bucket of water. lol
14) hook all the wires up, they are all snap on.
15) turn the system on, it will make this sweeeeeeeeet sound, (from the ballast)
16) these bulbs emit a deep blue light and u can tell the difference when u compare them to the stock ones.
17)dont put the bumper on yet,
18) take the car outta tha bay or whereever you are working on it, make sure that u tie the plastic protection underneath the car to somehting, because the bumper is not there to support it for now.
19) there is a aiming sheet that comes along with the kit, follow it to aim the lights properly.
20) if you run them all bythemselves the beam looks weird. but thats how it is, it is suppose to be used with the LOW beams, to do its job, which it doz by the way.
21) pull the car back in, and put the bumper on.
22) now you are ready to turn some serious heads, specially of your fellow 99-01 tl owners :diablotin , lets not forget you will be able to see better at night as well ,

sup red, on the cape these days mate. Heres a link, i bought them from their online store, Osram Sylvania Xenarc, this company is co-owned by Phillips. http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...XenarcKits.htm , Kit,
http://www.costore.com/performancesh...=34&pid=141894 Sylvania is selling them for $299.00. They were 549.00 when they first came out, and i bought them for 249.00 a few months ago . Personally i think you cant beat this price, for something that comes with a l2 year warranty and is HID as well. A good set of foglights by PIAA can cost you anywhere from 100 to 200 dollars, when you compare them to these lights you know that this is a steal. Anyways hit me with any questions if you have any.
